The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has proposed a decentralization of the upcoming National Delegates Conference due to the fact that the party is cash trapped. To many, including Kwabena Agyapong, who is aspiring for the position of the General Secretary of the party, this decision is in contrast of the provisions and the spirit of the party�s Constitution which states that all the delegates must converge in one place to elect their leaders during a national conference. ��our Constitution is very clear that when we are having a National Conference, all our party members must come together to conduct elections. It is so because it brings together all party members to foster unity, exchange ideas and make friends in the bid to build the team spirit to drive the party forward,� he explained. Kwabena Agyapong, who served as Ex-President Kufour�s Press Secretary is also of the view that the call for the decentralization of the Delegates Conference would mean that results would be collated from across the country. By so doing, winning candidates would know which areas voted massively for them and those that did not and it can influence their decisions in the allocation of resources. Addressing the issue on NEAT FM, he reiterated the call for the Delegates Conference to be held in Tamale, the capital city of the Northern Region. This, in Mr. Agyapong�s view would help cue the Akan-Akim party tag the party�s detractors seek to give the NPP. ��I have appealed to the elders of the party to hold the Conference in Tamale, which would stop the NDC propaganda that the Northern Regions are not part of our party�. Kwabena Agyapong, however revealed that he has begun consultations with some party members to raise money for the party�s National Delegates Conference.
