Former Minister Chides Party Chairman

A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has chided the Brong-Ahafo Regional Chairman of the party, Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh for taking sides in a dispute between members of the party, by representing one of them as his counsel in court. Hon. Kwabena Adjei-Darko stated: as regional chairman, when there is confusion between your children (party members), the best thing is try to resolve the issue in-house, but in this case, he has taken it upon himself to defend one against the other. Is that the way we have to go? We have to be very careful. Speaking in a telephone interview with Adakabre Frimpong Manso, the host of Me Man Nti on NEAT FM, the former Minister of Mines and later Minister of Local Government and Rural Development could not believe why some leaders in the biggest opposition party would not adopt conflict resolution mechanisms but jump into the conflict themselves. His comments is in reference to a law suit filed by three card bearing members of the party namely; Mr Adu Bempah, an Electoral Area Coordinator at Amantin Market Square, Mr Mapha Abubakar, an Electoral Area Coordinator at Nyomoase and Mr. Eric Koranteng, a member of the Communication Team at the Wenchi High Court in Brong-Ahafo. They are praying the court through the motion, to declare as null and void the purported polling station elections conducted by the Chairman, the Research Officer, Organizer, Womens Organizer, Youth Organizer etc, with the Secretary and the 1st Vice Chairman exempted. The law suit was triggered by the disqualification of 352 old polling station executives from the polling stations primaries. And the aggrieved party members are challenging the Constituency Executives on the following grounds; No proper committee was setup to oversee the running of the polling station elections. There was also no time table to be followed. The polling station forms were secretly sold to cronies of the chairman and the afore-mentioned executives. The chairman and his cronies gave only two days for the selling of the forms and a day for the submission, thus depriving people of buying the forms. Nonetheless, Hon. Kwabena Adjei-Darko would have wanted the partys Regional chairman, Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh to assume a reconciliatory posture by persuading the disputing parties to withdraw the case from law court for an in-house resolution and not for him to side with one party. because how can you reconcile both party members after the legal battle even if you win? he quizzed.
