PAACA Demonstration Against Fortiz Is Empty, Senseless And Useless

A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communication machinery has slammed the recent protest march through some principal streets of Accra against the sale of Merchant Bank to Fortiz Equity Fund, describing the stance taken by a group calling itself the Public Action Against Corruption and Abuse (PAACA) as empty, senseless, baseless and useless. PAACA, on Thursday January 16, 2014, demonstrated against the sale of Merchant Bank to Fortiz Equity Fund and called on government to reverse the decision or face their wrath. The demonstrators were clad in red T-shirts and red armbands and were holding placards with inscriptions like: Save Merchant Bank Now, We Need A Competent Government, 'Say No To Fortiz', Heed The Calls Of Pensioners etc. Contributing to a panel discussion on Ghana Decides program on Okay Fm, the NDC activist, Gabby Assuming said he finds it difficult to comprehend the purpose of the noisy demonstration against the sale of Merchant Bank to Fortiz as no information from any competent investigative body has revealed any act of corruption prior to the sale of the bank. He would have preferred that someone offered himself or herself up as a wise person with helpful information about how much the bank should been sold to Fortiz. .when you listen to the opposition parties on any platform, they insult and accuse people wrongly of corruption; you wonder if they are interested in criticism for fun..there is too much empty criticism, too much senseless criticism, too much baseless criticism and too much useless criticism because the Minority which led the crusade against the sale of Merchant Bank is yet to come out with findings and so what basis can someone jump into conclusion that the sale of the bank is dabbled in corruption; hence this demonstration? he quizzed.
