Rawlings Failed Ghana

Aspiring National Youth Organizer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) David Asante has blamed the countrys socio-economic development woes on Former President Rawlings. He is accusing the former president of failing to utilize the opportunities that came his way by developing the country to the levels Malaysia and Libya have attained when he served the country for some 19years. To him, Mr Rawlings lost focus and direction on how to steer the affairs of the country and rather amass wealth for his family, thus leaving his successor, John Agyekum Kufuor with an ailing economy leading to the country being declared a Highly Indebted Poor Country (HIPC). As it is established fact in the annals of political history of Ghana, Former President Rawlings took over the affairs of the country for 19 years successively. He started with military rule for 11 years and after the formation of the 1992 Constitution, he democratically ruled for 8 years uninterrupted. Speaking on Okay Fm, David Asante averred that Mr. Rawlings has and will always remain the long serving President in the annals of the countrys political history who failed to demonstrate his leadership qualities in ensuring massive development for the country. we saw the regime of Rawlings and we know how he left Ghana for Kufuor. We can also appreciate what Kufuor did within 8 years of his rule in the countrycompare Rawlings to Gaddafi, though a military dictator but compare what he did for his country and that of Rawlings in 19 years and you will see the wickedness of him (Rawlings) while in office. His peers in Malaysia and Libya have achieved a lot irrespective of the fact that they were in power for a considerable length of time, he said.
