Financial analyst Sydney Casely-Hayford has challenged President Mahama to make public the real reason behind the dismissal of former deputy minister of communication, Victoria Hammah. President Mahama in an interaction with journalists to mark his first anniversary in office said the constitution guarantees him the right to hire and fire without justification. But speaking on Citi FM�s news analysis and current affairs program The Big Issue, Mr. Casely-Hayford said the President must come clean to ensure transparency in his government. �I don�t quite understand it, first of all he [President Mahama] sacked Victoria Hammah with no excuse and she was supposed to have gossiped; not actually done anything particularly against the law�" �She was gossiping and made a statement that probably brought the President into disrepute or brought the whole NDC government and the Supreme Court issue to the fore," he said. According to Mr Casely-Hayford, it is mediocre for the President to just say he has the power to hire and fire without explanations. �We get mediocre when we just say that I have a right to hire and fire and that is it, we stop there�" "For me, it�s a matter of openness and transparency," he opined. The former Communications Minister was sacked hours after a leaked tape suspected to be her voice indicted government of influencing the verdict of the Supreme Court in the election petition case.
