NPP Scribe Escapes Death

The Ahafo Ano North Constituency Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), James Kodua is currently on admission at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi after he sustained severe injuries in an accident. Kodua told DAILY GUIDE that a motorbike he was riding on nearly collided with a truck laden with timber at top speed. He said he managed to swerve the truck and hit a rock in the bush. Kodua said the incident occurred two days before New Year at Sankore while he was returning to Tepa after addressing some pressing issues. The NPP scribe disclosed this on Friday when Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka Wontumi, a leading contender for the Ashanti Regional NPP Chairmanship position, visited him at the hospital. Kodua said after the accident, he laid in the bush for some minutes before three children, who were passing by, saw him and alerted some Good Samaritans. He said he was rushed to the medical facility at Sankore by some Good Samaritans and later referred to the Goaso Government Hospital for further treatment. Kodua said the authorities at the Goaso Government Hospital also referred him to KATH after assessing his injuries. He told Wontumi and his team that he had pains in his spinal cord. Wontumi, who was downhearted after listening to Koduas narration, thanked God for preserving the life of the partys executive. He promised to help Kodua to pay the high bills at the hospital and assured the injured politician that all NPP members in the country were firmly behind him in these trying moments. Wontumi also used the occasion to urge the Mahama administration to quickly remove the capitation system of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), which was piloted in the Ashanti region about two years ago. He said patients in the region were struggling to access proper medical care due to the introduction of the deadly capitation system. The President should for once listen to the cry of the masses by removing the capitation system, he said.
