Gbevlo Lartey Hot

The position of National Security Coordinator, Lt Col Larry Gbevlo Lartey (Rtd) seems to be under threat. Daily Guide had picked information from the corridors of power that somewhere last week, precisely in the evening of Monday, December 30, 2013, a meeting was held by key and influential members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) government at which there was a serious and heated debate about his position. This was in the absence of President John Dramani Mahama who was then whiling away time together with his family in far away Dubai where they spent the Christmas and New Year holidays. The meeting which was said to have travelled deep in the night was reported to have among others considered the option of whether or not to maintain Gbevlo Lartey as head of the National Security outfit. While some of those present were reported to be calling for his exit, others were said to have kicked against any such decision, leading to a heated debate thereby bringing the meeting to an abrupt end. The meeting was, therefore, said to have been postponed to a yet-to-be known date to determine the fate of the National Security Coordinator who was appointed to the position by the late President Mills. But one name that was said to have emerged at the meeting as a possible replacement for Gbevlo Lartey was that of a certain General Alhassan who is said to be in active service of the Ghana Armed Forces. It, therefore, remains uncertain whether the showman Gbevlo Lartey would get to maintain his position as National Security Coordinator or be replaced with the said military officer.
