Hold NPP Congress In The North Kwabena Agyepong

A New Patriotic Party General Secretary aspirant, Mr Kwabena Agyepong, has called on the National Executive of the party to consider holding the partys national congress in the northern region. This, he reasoned is to show solidarity with the people in the northern region where the party has its core foundation in the Northern Peoples Party (NPP). According to Mr Agyepong, since 1992, the party has had its fair share of holding congresses in the southern sector and staging this years congress in the northern sector would greatly enhance the image of the party as a national party. Mr Agyepong made the call when he held a press soiree for members of the inky fraternity in Accra at his house on Thursday. He said the event was to provide a platform for frank discussions and interaction with the media. Agyepong, who was one time a Press Secretary in the Kufuor administration and a presidential aspirant, used the occasion to solicit their support for the contest of the General Secretaryship of the party . He wished Ghanaians, especially his supporters and members of the NPP a prosperous New Year. Mr Agyepong, who announced his programme for his campaign for the General Secretaryship, said he was hitting the road next week with a lot of activities and tour of some constituencies where he had started receiving goodwill messages and support for his candidature as General Secretary of the NPP. He expressed his readiness to bring drastic changes into the party as a general secretary to change the culture of mediocrity which had plagued the organisation of the party. He pledged to encourage the spirit of voluntarism a foundation of the party which had reduced considerably within the party in recent times. Mr Agyepong, therefore, called for more selflessness, sacrifice and dedication from members of the party. Mr Agyepong said he would ensure that the party to put up a posture of acknowledged sacrifices members of the party were making when elected as general secretary.
