Prez Mahamas Administration Does Not Think Through Policies Before Implementing Them

For effective implementation of government policies, it is better to scrutinize it to ascertain the effect it may have on the citizenry before they are carried out, but with President Mahama-led administration, Michael Omari Wadie finds fault with his (President Mahamas) governance in terms of policy implementations. According to him, President Mahamas government through the Public Utilities and Regulatory Commission (PURC) has increased electricity tariffs to over 78% with water seeing a 52% increase amidst increment of fuel prices. Trade Union Congress (TUC) on its part has kicked against the increment. A statement signed by its Secretary General, Mr. Kofi Asamoah, attributed the current state of the problem to the failure to allow the automatic adjustment mechanism to work as agreed among stakeholders in 2010. Though the Organized Labor did not kick against the tariffs increment per say, it was rather shocked and outraged by the level of increase; describing the problem as a political failure for which Ghanaians should not be liable, pointing out that 'the political establishment that scuttled the mechanism should deal with it'. Speaking on Okay Fm, Omar Wadie backed the position of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) to reject the tariffs increment because government has only increased salaries by 10% of which, this in effect will make cost of living very high. .the government cannot implement a policy without seeing or knowing the effect of it on Ghanaians..you should not implement a policy and then after that you start looking at the effect of the policy. You are supposed to think and do analysis of the effect and you dont implement before you start planning but rather we plan before implementing, he enlightened. The aspiring NPP National Chairman asserted that NDC government always comes up with a committee after a policy to examine the effect simply because it has realized that Ghanaians are weak minded and so committees are set up to kill the agitations of Ghanaians concerning the policy. Saddened by the policies of President Mahama-led administration, he said that they just wake up and start implementing policies without thinking of the rippling effect it will have on Ghanaians.
