Kwabena Adjeis "Let's Share" Proposal Receives More BashingIt's An Affront To Constitution

National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Kwabena Adjei has received a lot of flake after he alluded to a "let's share" government at the 21st Anniversary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). According to him, the country is facing a tensed political atmosphere because of the winner takes all policy, thus we (political parties) need to "share" since "the country belongs to all of us" This has not gone down well with a lot of Ghanaians since they believe the NDC kingpin was advocating for power-sharing or unity government just like elsewhere in Zimbabwe. Speaking to the issue, Head of Monitoring and Evaluation at the presidency, Dr Tony Aidoo has described the call by Dr Kwabena Adjei as an affront to the countrys constitution. He is of the view that power sharing is a function of political party organization failure and cannot occur in a natural phenomenon. I am appalled at this notion of power sharing because I think it is offensive to our constitution, democratic dispensation and to the people of this country. When politicians begin to talk about power sharing, it seems like Ghana is gradually being pushed into the typical African phenomenon that whenever there is any electoral disputes, the solution must be power sharing; so we have Kenya, Zimbabwe and so onI do not think that this winner takes all thing has empirical foundations beyond the imagination and the machinations of we politicians he suggested. Dr. Tony Aidoo told Suhiyini Alhassan on Radio Golds Alhaji and Alhaji that the winner takes all policy, is not a natural phenomenon. It is a function of system failure; political party organization failure. When you make a decision that you are going to form a party on the basis of putting square pegs in one hole, without looking at the expertise and competence of people" He indicated that in a power sharing era, there will be different ideologies in one government which will contradict each other and can lead to ideological suicide. Then it will lead one to question the value of the democracy the country is enjoying. The essence of democracy is that there must be freedom of informed choice, you cannot have informed choice if you dont have competition of ideas he added.
