Accusing The Electoral Commission Was The Biggest Mistake The Petitioners Made - Sekou Nkrumah

Petitioners in the ongoing Supreme Court case have been indicted by Dr. Sekou Nkrumah of committing an unpardonable error by accusing the Electoral Commission of conniving with the National Democratic Congress to rig the 2012 elections. According to Dr. Sekou Nkrumah, as a body mandated by the constitution to supervise our national elections, it was calamitous on the part of the New Patriotic Party and the petitioners to have called the integrity of the EC into question. If everybody is not fit to conduct elections, who is going to conduct elections in Ghana? he indirectly asked the petitioners. After the 2012 general elections, the NPP claimed they had been robbed off victory through the connivance between the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and EC officials. The party proceeded to court with evidence to show that Ghanaians voted overwhelmingly for them and that the results had been manipulated to favour President-elect John Dramani Mahama. But speaking on Okay FM, Dr. Sekou Nkrumah warned that painting the EC black should have been left out of the issue. He added that should the NPP push for an agenda to change key personalities at the commission because they assume they have done the bidding of the NDC, it would create confusion in our electoral matters. if changing personalities, then you can change a personality and the new set of people can also be biased with the political affiliation. So that cant be the solution, he said.
