It Is "Unethical" For Gov't To Pay Workers On Strike - Kuntu Blankson

Former Member of Parliament for the Mfantseman East Constituency, Hon. Kuntu Blankson, has voiced his opinion on the collective action by members of the Ghana Medical Association who have refused to return to work to serve Ghanaians because they have a score to settle with government. Although government has issued statements indicating it is unhappy about the decision by doctors to hold onto their strike action, the leadership of the association has consistently maintained that governments refusal to show commitment in resolving the issues of their conversion difference and reduced pensions, had made it difficult for them to return to duty. Speaking to Peacefmonline.com, the former MP divulged that he is aware government wires salaries into the various accounts of the doctors on strike even though the act is unethical and they have refused to report to duty on daily basis. He called on the peeved doctors to temper justice with mercy and return to work in the name of serving Ghanaians and not necessarily, the government. They should pardon government and make sure that they go back to work...they should be aware that things that they do today, would haunt them tomorrow. The Bible even says that the hand that doesnt work; should not eat and as they are not going to work, I am sure they are being paid, he noted. No matter the cost, we should learn to satisfy the need of people around us, he finally advised.
