Sir John Fires Collins Dauda: Shut Up If You Dont Have Anything Sensible To Tell Ghanaians

The General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie has reprimanded the minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing, Hon. Collins Dauda to shut up if he has nothing sensible to tell Ghanaians instead of exposing his ignorance about the walk out staged by the minority caucus last Thursday. Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie aka. Sir John, explained that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) when in opposition boycotted Parliament including President John Mahama when the National Health Insurance Scheme bill was presented to parliament for passing. Hon. Collins Dauda over the weekend said on Okay FM that the minority caucus walk out on President Mahama when he visited Parliament was unGhanaian; adding that the NPP should understand that God has chosen President Mahama over Nana Akufo-Addo. The minister reiterated that, for John Mahama to use three months to win the 2012 elections over Akufo-Addo who used two years in campaigning, should tell the New Patriotic Party and their Presidential candidate that he is not going to be the President of Ghana; emphasizing that NPP will not win their case in the Supreme Court. Against this backdrop, Peacefmonline.com interviewed the General Secretary of NPP, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, and in response, he said that it is presumptuous for the minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing to speak like that; urging the NDC to wait for the Supreme Courts verdict, if they (NDC) believe that God gave the mandate to President Mahama. He added that Hon. Collins Daudas argument that the boycott of the minority caucus was unGhanaian, was purely infantile; stressing that the NDC boycotted several Parliamentary proceedings when they were in opposition including the National Health Insurance Scheme of which President Mahama was part. According to Sir John, the NDC should interrogate whatever they say in public; therefore advising Hon. Collins Dauda that; if he has nothing sensible to tell Ghanaians, he should shut up instead of exposing his ignorance. He however expressed great confidence in the application of justice in this country; and that the NPP believe that justice shall prevail and that the true verdict of the peoples votes shall be restored. ..And so if they say that it is God who asked them to steal, let them stay there but we believe that God will minister Himself by ensuring that the true justice of the peoples votes are counted to whoever they wanted it to be and that is Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and so we wait patiently, Lawyer Owusu Afriyie reiterated. Sir John stated that the New Patriotic Party has a mountain of evidence against President Mahama and the Electoral Commission as such they (the NPP) believe that the verdict will go in their favour and Ghanaians shall be victorious and; not the few who stole the peoples mandate. Talking about the customary practices of walking out on a chief which Hon. Collins Dauda described the NPP minority caucus as unGhanaian, the General Secretary of NPP responded that he was not sure if the minister understands anything about customary practices; in that the people will not accord the chief with respect if he (chief) imposes himself on them as a chief. He again stated that Hon. Collins Dauda is an alien with the customary practices in this country and the customs is clear that if the people dont like a chief they dont accord him with the dignity he deserves.
