"ECG Is Embarrassing Prez Mahama Big Time...Energy Board Must Be Dissolved"

Leader and founder of the United Renaissance Party (URP), Charles Kofi Wayo has said the Electricity Company of Ghana and the Energy Board which he is part of is embarrassing President Mahama with their erratic power supply and incompetence. Chuck Kofi Wayo believes that the current energy crisis in the country is a testament to gross incompetence that is swarming the sector in the guise of so-called heads of the ECG. Every four or five minute there is light off, for the past years why. What the leaders in both the Energy sector and Electricity Company of Ghana are doing is not good. They want to embarrass President John Mahama and they have embarrassed him big time. They know they will not be fired so they are doing what they like, he said. Wondering on how the country could be constrained to resort to the load shedding when both the energy sector and the ECG have experts, Kofi Wayo said both sectors have caused the president invectives from Ghanaians so they need to be fired. We were all here in Ghana when both the Energy board and ECG when to the President to brief him on our electricity glitches. They promised the President the erratic power supply will end last year November and the President believed them (Energy board and ECG) because they are experts. That is the main reason the President assured Ghanaians that the erratic power supply will be a thing of the past. They (Energy board and ECG) lied to the President so its enough for the President to fire them all. They embarrass the President. Everybody is insulting the President because of their incompetence, he yelled. Kofi Wayo who is also serving as a member of the Energy Commission Board told OKAY FM Friday February 22,2013 that, members of the board do not value his contribution since they know little about the Energy sector. They (Energy Commission Board) dont know the job because their mentality is low when it comes to energy. When I am talking during board meetings, they just look at my face and belittle my contribution. Its not their fault because they dont know but are given appointment to work there, he said. The Energy Commission Board is at the moment hanging pending its dissolution or renewal of its mandate after the 2012 elections. But controversial and straight forward talking Kofi Wayo, who was appointed to serve as a board member of the Energy Commission by the late President John Evan Mills, believes that President Mahama will be doing Ghanaians good if he dissolves the Board and appoints new competent people. The president must not hesitate to fire us all because we have done no good to the nation. We the (Board) are rather embarrassing the president, he stated. The country has recently been thrown into a state of frustration following the intensification of the erratic power supply that was expected to be fixed early this year as promised by then candidate John Mahama when campaigning for the 2012 General elections. Kofi Wayo denounced the erstwhile Kufuor led administration decision to enter in to the West African Gas Pipeline agreement as a decision that was based on corrupt motives. Adding that if he were put in charge of the Energy sector, the first thing he would do, will be to do away with the Gas Pipeline agreement.
