Flagbearer of the Progressive People�s Party (PPP), Dr. Papa kwesi Nduom, has selected Mrs. Eva Naa Merley Lokko to be his running-mate for the upcoming December elections.
Mrs Eva Lokko has a long history in public service. The recent high profile office she occupied was the position of the Director General of the Ghana broadcasting Corporation.
A shortlist of two candidates were presented to the National Executives for advise but Mrs. Lokko prevailed. She is set to be the first selected female running-mate ahead of the December polls.
Dr. Nduom has consistently espoused his belief that a female candidate will be his best bet in his bid to win the elections. This effectively makes the PPP the second party behind the the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to select a running mate.
The flagbearer of the People�s National Conventions is also said to be eyeing a female running mate. The ruling National Democratic Congress is expected to make its announcement later this month.
