PNC Group Maintains Stance On Resignation Of Hassan Ayariga

The PNC presidential candidate, Hassan Ayariga, has again come under fire from a group within the party calling itself the "PNC Caucus for Strategic Progress" led by Atik Mohammed. The group has accused Mr. Ayariga of being in bed with the ruling National Democratic Congress, NDC, and working against the progress of the party. It has consequently petitioned the National Executive Council of the party to investigate the issue and take the necessary actions. This group had earlier on July 12, organised a news conference and called on Mr. Ayariga to apologies for his actions, resign or be forced out of office. The coordinator of the group, Atik Mohammed, spoke more about their concerns in this interview with Bubu Klinogo. The National Executive Council of the PNC has denied ever receiving any petition from any group within the party. The General Secretary, Bernard Mornah, told Radio Ghana that the NEC does not recognise any breakaway group. He said he has now learnt of what he described as serious allegations against its presidential nominee, Hassan Ayariga.
