The Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akomea has revealed that his party stands a better chance of winning the 2012 elections if former President Rawlings decides to campaign against President Mills. Speaking on the second edition of Ephson�s File on Thursday, Nana Akomea said the NPP is however unfazed with the possibility of Mr Rawlings joining the NDC campaign team which he said looks very unlikely. According to him, the NPP is confident of winning the 2012 elections and have put in place a plan should Mr. Rawlings patch up with President Mills and join the campaign team. The founder of the NDC party has been the strongest critic of the President Mills administration since he assumed in 2009 describing some NDC officials as self seeking politicians who are in power for something else. Ex President Rawlings has also on several platforms described President Mills as a weak leader and a failure for his inability to prosecute some alleged corrupt officials of the erstwhile Kufuor administration. Many political analysts have opined that it is impossible for the Rawlingses to mount any platform and campaign for the President Mills to get a second term. But, the out-going NPP Member of Parliament for the Okaikoi South, said due to the enormous work done by flagbearer Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the NPP will win the December elections regardless who campaigns for President Mills. �In the 2000 Rawlings was the head of the campaign but we won, without Rawlings Mills can do well but with him it is a better situation. He is the founder of the NDC but for us if he decides to go against them it makes our works easier� Hon. Akomea said. He added �we have a scenario for Rawlings joining the campaign but we will prefer that he is not part of the team and working against the team�. Hon. Akomea also stated that the �all die be die� comment by Nana Akufo-Addo and the treasonable statements by Assin North MP Kennedy Agyapong has not had a negative impact on the NPP campaign despite the NDC using it to their advantage.
