NDC 'Begs' Rawlings; Sends Official Invite For Rally

The office of former President Rawlings has officially been invited for NDCs "mammoth rally" scheduled for Saturday at Mantse Agbona in Accra. The Greater Accra regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Nii Ayi told XYZ News that a slight delay in the dispatch of the letter that created the miscommunication between the party and the former first family has been rectified. According to him, he has received confirmation from the spokesperson of the Rawlingses, Kofi Adams that the office of the former President has received the invitation letter. This comes after the Rawlingses, in a statement on Thursday, warned members of the NDC to refrain from using their name to publicise their events when no official communication has been made. The former first family stated categorically in the statement that they have not been invited to the rally contrary to earlier reports by the Greater Accra regional propaganda secretary of the NDC, Nii Duodu Doodo, that the former first couple have confirmed that they will attend the rally. But, speaking to XYZ News, the Regional Secretary of the NDC rendered an unqualified apology to the ex President and his wife for the mishap. He stated that the issue has been resolved and pleaded with the former first family to forgive party officials and honour the invitation. He however added that he is not certain if ex President Rawlings would attend the rally since the invitation letter was sent late. Meanwhile, Nii Ayi has told XYZ News, that all is set for the NDCs rally scheduled for Saturday at Mantse Agboena. He added that the choice of Mantse Agboena as the rally grounds is not to prove a point to the NPP. since the idea had long been considered.
