Former Hearts of Oak star Ablade Kumah has paid tribute in remembrance of his former teammate Shamo Quaye.
Today marks exactly 19-years of the demise the midfielder (Shamo Quaye) who won the hearts of Ghanaian football lovers with his dazzling display.
The celebrated National star was a member of the Men's National team that won the bronze medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain.
Ablade Kumah who played together with the deceased both at Club and National level has paid a warm tribute to his pal.
“Today marks exactly 19-years Shamo died, I am very sad, he was such a good person,” Kuma said.
“Apart from the fact that he was a good player, he was humble and respectful. I pay yet another respect to him and may he rest in peace in wherever he is now.”
Shamo Quaye also played for Saudi Club Al-Qadisiyah and Umeå in Sweden.
Quaye - nicknamed 'Shamo Wonder' is remembered for his sheer artistry, silky passes and graceful footwork in his midfield role; 'Bebeto' for his apparent mesmerizing likeness to a Brazilian World Cup winner of his day.

RIP SHAMO
As a child, I thought it was Shamo Leather. Not knowing it was Shamo Wonder. At that time, the only thing was to listen to radio to hear them play. Sporting Time - Kwabena Yeboah. Those were interesting times.
JOE DEBRAH WAS EXCELLENT PLAYER THAN THAT JUJU MINDED SHAMO QUAYE 1000000 TIMES.
You don't dictate what people write here. That Kotoko feared him and Ablade Kumah is a fact. Joe Debrah was not as skillful a dribbler as Shamo. Go check your facts.
SHAMO REST IN PERFECT PEACE. YOU WERE THE MESSI AT YOUR TIME. FONDLY REMEMBERED.
shamo leather, rest in perfect peace.what a great player he was.the phobian fraternity say ayekoo. will always be remembered.
IT WAS SHAMO LEATHER AND NOT SHAMO WONDER
Was his nickname "Shamo Leather" or "Shamo Wonder"? Someone help me.
HE DIED BECAUSE OF HIS DESIRE FOR JUJU.THIS SHOULD BE A LESSON TO THE UP AND COMING FOOTBALLERS.
PLEASE IF YOU ARE REMEMBERING HIM DO THAT BUT DON'T BRING KOTOKO IN. JOE DEBRAH WAS FAR BETTER THAN HIM.
