Midfielder Michael Helegbe scored his debut goal for Asante Kotoko in a friendly against division one side Gold Stars 3-0 victory on Tuesday.
Youngster Richard Yeboah opened scoring in the first half for the Porcupine Warriors before Helegbe added a second with a beautiful volley in the second half.
The home-side conceded a third through an own goal on the stroke of full time.
The Independence day friendly was used by head coach Maxwell Konadu to prepare his squad to face his former side Wa All Stars on Sunday.
Kotoko have a seven-point lead in the Ghana Premier League with 38 points after 18 matches.
