Viasat 1, a free TV channel has secured the rights to telecast live matches of the English Premier League (EPL) which kicked off last weekend. Rune Skogeng, Chief Executive Officer of Viasat 1, in a statement copied to GNA Sports said the deal is for a one year period with a minimum of 33 matches from the 2009/10 soccer season to be telecast.
The statement said, Viasat 1, will also broadcast a weekly highlight magazine which comprises all actions from the previous week's matches. Skoeng said "we are delighted to have reached an agreement to broadcast the 2009/10 Barclays English Premier League in Ghana.ďż˝
This acquisition is the next in the development of Viasat 1 and we are proud to continue our work to implement a successful business model whilst offering viewers the very best in premium entertainment. Viasat 1 was launched in December 2001 in Ghana.
