Nana Akomea, the Chief Executive Officer of InterCity State Transport and a soccer fanatic, has expressed disgust over the performance of the Black Stars players in the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON) at Ivory Coast.
Nana Akomea was utterly disappointed in the players for their abysmal performances in the tournament, particularly in the match against Mozambique on Monday, January 22, which resulted in a 2:2 draw after Ghana's goalkeeper committed an avoidable mistake within the last minutes of the game.
The goalkeeper, Richard Ofori, attempted to catch a ball that was already on its way over the line, and his failure to execute his intended action gave the Mozambicans an upper hand by equalizing and slimming Ghana's chances of moving to the next stage of the tournament.
Ghana is currently on the brink of exiting the AFCON, though some people have hoped the team could still cross over to the Round of 16 per their calculations.
But to Nana Akomea, there is no need for Ghana to qualify for the next stage, looking at their poor soccer delivery and discouraging performances.
"We don't even deserve to qualify. We should simply come back home," he exclaimed while analyzing the Ghana-Mozambique match on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" show.
