Baby Jet Promotions (BJP), the boxing promotion company owned by Asamoah Gyan has terminated the contract of the only boxer on its roster Emmanuel Tagoe.
In a termination letter addressed to the boxer and copied to the Ghana Boxing Authority, BJP stated that the boxer was free to continue his career with a new promotions company.
Tagoe, 32, signed a managerial and promotional deal BJP in October 2018 and it was due to expire in November this year.
The letter signed by Gyan who is the CEO of BJP expressed gratitude to the former IBO lightweight champion and wished him well in his future endeavours.
"The agreement which was supposed to run from October 2018 to November 2021, has been terminated and we wish to inform you that we have released you to continue your professional boxing career anywhere of your choice," the letter dated February 9, 2021 reads. "This takes effect immediately. Whilst thanking you for your working relationship with us during the times past, we also wish you the best of luck in your future endeavours and pray that your next promoter - manager will have for you the kind of care and love we had for you. Thanks in anticipation".
After a year-long lay-off, Tagoe returned to the ring in November last year, earning a majority decision verdict over Mason Menard in Hollywood.
He is currently managed by Peter Kahn, who helped nurture Tagoe’s maternal uncle and Ghana boxing legend, Nana Yaw Konadu’s career during his heyday.
