Veteran Ghanaian Patriotic/Reggae musician, Obiba Sly Collins has condemned a recent report which suggested that he has slept with over 160.
The story, Obiba Sly says, “was a false publication to dent his image and his job as a real estate developer.”
According to him, the story misquoted him on an interview he granted on Atinka 104.7 FM by radio host, Roman Father. He says the unsavoury comments published about him (he thinks) are an attempt to destroy his career.
“I was on a radio interview with Roman Father on Atinka FM. We spoke on different topics and it was a great interview. He asked me about my advise to the youth (doing music), and I told him that, for the youngsters who are doing music now, they should try as much as possible to save enough to cater for them at their old age, thus, they would have something to depend on and also last their families when (incase) they are off the scene. I advised them to stay off illicit drugs, drug abuse and too much womanizing (the guys) because those things could mislead them. Then Roman Father asked if I also engaged in any of such behaviours like womanizing during my days. I told him I fell victim to a few but I can’t hold a figure to it. I wonder why the reporter had to twist my words and publish falsehood. Ever since that story got published I’ve been receiving numerous calls from as far as Nigeria; all my clients and business partners who read that story got vexed. I work very hard and toiled to reach where I am now. I don’t engage in such controversies so I find it very disgusting I was driven into this”, he explained.
Obiba Sly is one of the veteran Ghanaian musicians who took live band to Nigeria and played with Ras Kimono, Alex Zito, Daniel Wilson, Baba Fryo, Uncle Pee, Blue Diamond Band. He formed the Gold Fingers Band in Nigeria, he disclosed.
