Hiphop rapper Samuel Bazawule better known as Blitz has been honored by the Vilcek Foundation for sustaining the excellency and vibrancy of the arts in the United States of America.
Blitz who was born abroad and resides permanently in the United States was awarded a cash prize of $35,000 and a commemorative plaque.
"Truly honored and blessed to be chosen as one of the winners of the 2013 Vilcek Prize recognizing immigrant contributions to the American Arts and Sciences, Blitz said.
In The Contemporary Music catogory, Blitz was awarded with James Abrahar from United Kingdom and Tigran Hamasyan from Armenia.
The Vilcek Prizes for 'Creative Promise' are awarded to foreign-born individuals who have demonstrated outstanding achievement during the early stages of their occupations.
