The Electoral Commission (EC) has kicked against the use of drones to monitor election proceedings across the country by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The Director of Electoral Services at the EC, Dr. Serebour Quaicoe says the move will be “illegal” after describing the polling stations as 'security zones'.
“I don't think they can do that, it is allowed and even if it is, they have to apply from the rightful authorities before,” he told Joy News in an interview monitored by Peacefmonline.com.
The NDC has promised to go the extra mile to ensure the December 7, general election will not be rigged.
The party says they will deploy drones to monitor the election proceedings in key areas like the Greater Accra Region.
The new approach was made known by Greater Accra Regional Chairman Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore as plans to protect balots for NDC.
“Next week, we are going to train constituency executives on how to use drones to monitor what happens during the elections,” Ashie Moore said.
This follows his party's flagbearer, Mr John Dramni Mahama's call for vigilance during the December 7, polls.

No they will send the drones to the Ashanti region and all consistuency that Ghanaians know NPP use in rigging and switching and changing of ballot boxes will all be checked u if NPP believes NDC rig elections in the Volta region then let them send the drones there…..all we want is a free and fair elections which NPP are always scared of ….because we know NPP for pocketing the money and leaving the country broke
Why not, allow the NDC to use drones. Hope they will have no reason to complain when they lose the 2024 elections? Can drones change the minds of voters. I thought it was same John Mahama who said only NDC university graduates will man the polling stations as party agents in the 2024 elections? Is it the case that you don't trust your party graduates too, thus the need to deploy drones? Hope the NDC will equally send drones to the Volta region too to monitor those who will crossing from Togo into vote in Ghana.
