A former Chief of Staff in the erstwhile Kufuor-led government has joined some New Patriotic Party (NPP) veterans who have expressed concern about President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's reshuffle after 7 years.
Mr. Kwadwo Mpiani said the president may have his reasons for the changes in his government but argued that with less than a year to an election, the February 14 shakeup appeared problematic.
“I don’t react to the ministerial reshuffle because it is the president’s prerogative. He works with the ministers and the deputy ministers, and he should be able to determine who is working well or otherwise.”
"But I think that eight months to an election will not have any effect on the direction of government. So, I think the timing is the problem, otherwise, it is his prerogative to do a reshuffle as he sees fit," he said in an interview with Joy News and monitored by Peacefmonline.com
Mr. Mpiani's other concern is about how quickly some of the appointees, who are new in the roles, will take to acclimatize and positively impact the portfolios handed to them.
"Some of these appointees are completely new. How are they going to learn and know what goes on in the ministries to enable them to direct the ministries as expected of them?" he questioned.
Adding that, “So, what do you want to achieve? It is too close to the election, and I don’t believe they can effect any massive change.”

Kwodwo mpianim did worst things as chief of staff during president time so he should ***barred word***. If you agreed that reshuffle is the prerogative of the president then why are making yourself relevant in the media space. That awkward looking man does not see anything good from the president since he became the president. You the same man agreed with Allan to form the Butterfly Movement and still wants to talk about NPP matters what a man? You see where you are now, that is how God works . your talking will not change anything .
Positivity is good for all. let us encourage them to do their best and pray for them too. If some have been there for 7 year and do not see anything some did, does not mean they can't deliver. it brings confidence and new ideas to the table. Pray for them to do more than expected.
He’s right. We are all NPP let’s say good thing is good and bad things is bad. If you are NPP sit down and think this 8 months left what those ministers are coming to do. They are just come and get pay that’s all. Some of the people they are happy of this changes they forget that some of them are MP. If your party MP is a minister and you said they do know what they are doing what do you mean.
What is your beef? Are you the president? Do you want to dictate to the president?
Has this man ever seen anything good with Akufo Addo?
Hello Uncle. It has been a long time. How is the Butuerfly?
