As the New Patriotic Party (NPP) awaits the announcement of the running mate of its flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, sources close to the Vice President have confirmed that Apostle Dr. Opoku Onyinah, former Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, is being considered as the potential running mate of the NPP flagbearer.
His consideration follows the need for a dedicated, God-fearing Christian who has shown unwavering commitment to both the party and the government.
The consideration to pick Apostle Dr. Opoku Onyinah is also a way to build a strong partnership with Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to secure victory in the upcoming December 7 elections.
Furthermore, Apostle Dr. Opoku Onyinah’s consideration, sources say, is aimed at bridging the differences of the power brokers within the party and seeking the votes of the huge membership of the Pentecost Church.
Interestingly, even though Apostle Dr. Opoku Onyinah hasn’t made any public statement yet, a post on his Facebook page recently read, “The Lord has a reason for creating me. Burying my talent and making it redundant is doing a disservice to my family, church, nation, and world. If I fail to speak, to work, to contribute, I allow the ‘bad’ minority to rule and dictate. Often, the silence of the majority or a good one helps the noisy minority destroy society or even rule. (From my script on Words of Wisdom).”
Apostle Professor Kwadwo Nimfour Opoku Onyinah (born July 22, 1954) is a Ghanaian theologian, a televangelist, a composer, and the fifth chairman of The Church of Pentecost from 2008 to 2018.
He founded the Pentecost International Worship Centre, a ministry of The Church of Pentecost in 1993. He holds a doctor of philosophy degree in theological studies from the University of Birmingham (2002) and a master of theology in applied theology from Regents Theological College. He is the last of the apostles who walked with the founder of The Church of Pentecost, Pastor James McKeown.
So far, several names have popped up as potential running mates. Among the prominent figures are Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, a seasoned politician and current Majority Leader in Parliament and Minister for Government Business; Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, current Chief of Staff at the Presidency; Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, MP for Manhyia South and Minister of Energy; Joseph Osei Owusu, MP for Bekwai and First Deputy Speaker of Parliament; Isaac Osei, former MP for Subin and Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, MP for Bosomtwe and Minister of Education.
Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, MP for Manhyia South and Minister of Energy, is on the lips of party members as they believe it’s a done deal for him, having succeeded in influencing Ashanti regional chairmen as well as the inner circle for the flagbearer.
Meanwhile Dr. Adutwum’s dedication to improving the country’s education system and his extensive background in academia make him a strong contender for the role.

if you will bring Apostle Prof.OP as President,I will vote for him but not as VP as Bawumiar himself said, they won't even listen to his advice
I think my previous comment (Adom) is too critical and with some strong language, I wish there's a way to delete it, no matter how our leaders' actions provoke us, I think we need to still accord them the necessary respect be measured in our criticism. My sincere apology to the president and Dr. Bawumia and to everyone who reads this!
Of course, Christians are discerning, Akufo Addo and Bawumia have deceived us twice, the third will not happen. Look at how these duo were packaged, as if they're so Good fearing and people of integrity. Their fakeness have been exposed now, we know what they are truly made of and we will not fall for their tricks this time round. Corruption is their hallmark, deception and dishonesty are their satisfaction and confidence trickery is their character. It's difficult for me to say this hard truth so plainly but we have to do so painstakingly. Ghanaians are still paying COVID 19 levy on everything including pure water that every surviving human, whether they have money or not are obliged to buy? It's been 3 years after COVID and we are still paying, yet these characters are still blaming COVID for their wicked leadership and Bawumia has the gust to tell Ghanaians that he's the one coming to remove their nuisance taxes. When Bawumia was promising heaven and calling Amissah Arthur names, he said he didn't realise that his office was a useIess one. Such a non credible person, it means that a person of his calibre could not investigate about the office he was aspiring for, he was just saying anything without being measured. How is he different now, is it not also true that he is speaking and changing promises without a critical look into his promises including their feasibility? I pity anyone who can be moved or get deceived the 3rd time
Not all COP members are gullible to vote for Bawumiah and Opoku Onyinah being chosen as his running mate. Opoku Onyina has to remember the harm he has caused to Ghanaians by wasting Millions of dollars on the Cathedral depriving Ghanaian youths employment that money could have provided.
Concert people, concert politicians and concert media! Bawumia and his team have made us aware that the vice presidential position is a mere ceremonial one, it doesn't have any constitutional powers and so it adds no value to the nation. It is up to the president to accept or reject an advise from the VP or any other people. Hence, no self respected person who knows their worth and values their reputation will accept Bawumiah's nomination. No true Christian, particularly Church of Pentecost member will vote for Bawumia just because he has a Christian or Pentecost member as a VP candidate, because everyone knows that Bawumiah's VP will have no effect on his government just as he's claiming that he has no use for this government.
