Charles Owusu, formerly of the Forestry Commission, says Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia should have acknowledged the government’s shortcomings before going ahead to present his vision statement.
The 2024 presidential candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), during his address to the nation on Wednesday, February 7, outlined a series of policies he intends to implement if elected president.
Among his policies, Dr. Bawumia intends to abolish the e-levy, scrap the national service, and reduce his ministers and deputies to not more than 50.
Charles Owusu during a panel discussion on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo', said: "In all, he did well but I think he should've admitted that his government indeed made some mistakes before going ahead."

The failures of this government is so ridiculous. Have you ever heard any serious government in any part of the world blaming COVID or Russia war for making their governments fail? Only the NPP government, your incompetence is unmatched, very incompetently incompetent. Bawumia once said that with 30B USD, he would build 1000 factories as a vice president. His government has received close to 100B USD, where are even 10 robust and functional factories? Only FSHS, scanty pathetic projects, government officials and few NPP members steaIing and Iooting have squandered all these monies? Such dishonest thiefs
@Wofa KK, the problem of you guys is that you're arrogantly proud of your super incompetence, corruption mindset, dishonesty and inability to reason properly. The commenters here did not ask anyone to apologise to anyone. No one has voted for Bawumia? Did you guys not say Bawumia won the elections at least in the North for the NPP? Are there not people who voted for the NPP because of the promises and lies of Bawumia and his wife? The critical issues people are raising are that, before Bawumia comes out to propose counter policies to the one ones that his own government are concurrently implementing, he must be transparent and honest (if he would ever be one) enough to tell us that he has asked the government to implement them as he believes those would rescue the Ghanaian from the current hardships, yet Akufo Addo and his government have refused emphatically. Then we would all know that he's not intentionally supporting the government to kill Ghanaians even before he has a chance to roll out his so called better policies. If not for witchcraft, how can a person fault such a brilliant demand? Those days where your little brains used inferior tactics to deceive Ghanaians are over!
Koo, Koo1, and At Yaw - You people are not serious. Has anyone voted for Bawumia as a president? I agree Dr. Bawumia is a member of the govt veep, but does he have the executive power to veto anything the president say or does? And what crime has the govt committed against the country that they need to apologize for? Was it a crime that the govt introduced Free SHS? Was it a crime that the govt has vigrously increased assess to Ghana Card? Was it a crime by the govt that COVID-19 brought severe challenges to the entire world including Ghana? Was it crime by the govt that Russia decided to fight Ukraine to cause challenges to the world's economy? I don't understand why the media gives attention to some people to talk as if they know everything. Charles Owusu wants Dr. Bawumia to apologize for what? Apologize for the mess he Charles Owusu caused at the Forestry Commisison? Now, he is a rich man for unduly benefiting from the same govt he was a part of. If the govt needs to apologize for anything, then that Charles Owusu should be bold enough to render that apology since he was a part of the govt. His pocket is full now, so he think he can step out to throw dirt to the govt and act as if he is independent and had nothing to do with the govt. He has to be ashamed of himself. Now, I understand he want to be an MP. Oh, Mother Ghana, please have my sympathy.
Very insightful questions have been raised by Koo. Every knowledgeable person knows it's only the weak in mind or those who have special love for corruption are hailing Bawumia and his bogus so called policies
How can a man present alternative ideas to what his own government is currently doing, of which he is a cardinal member. How can any reasonable people call those credible policies? According to Elon Musk, an ldiot is the one who believes everything and anything his political party says without questioning sometimes. Yes we could have said Bawumia shared his vision with us and scrutinize them on that basis if he wasn't the current vice president. But as long as he is a key member of government and manager of the failed economy, he can't propose "alternatives" without justifying why they're not currently being implemented if he believes they're superior to the ones his government is running now. Has he proposed all of them to Akufo Addo and he rejected them all? Has he insisted to his government that those are what will take Ghana out of the mess it's in currently and the whole government and party rejected them? He should let us know if has happened and we will all know how hypocritical and destructive the NPP and their current government is, otherwise, it's just noise he is making and another wack strategy to deceive the gulIible masses for political power, after which he will turn around to continue Akufo Addo's trajectory.

Why are Ghanaians fixated with the demand for Dr. Bawumia to apologize, he is not the president, why are we not demanding an apology from President Mahama who was president and made us sleep in darkness for 4 years with a bad economy without a serious global crisis. Instead of discussing the vision Dr Bawumia presented and pushing other candidates to present their vision so Ghanaians can make a meaningful choice, we are discussing what has happened in the past.
