The Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr. has rubbished the proposal for Ghana's election date to be changed from December 7.
The Seventh Day Adventist Church has impressed upon the Electoral Commission (EC) to reschedule the December 7 polls to a Tuesday in the month of November.
They argue that the December 7 date, which falls on Saturday this year, will interrupt their Sabbath day, which they hold sacred.
Most of the political parties have supported the petition for the election date change, but the largest opposition, the National Democratic Congress, has asked the EC to effect the change in the year 2028.
Touching on the topic on "Kokrokoo" panel discussion programme on Peace FM, Kwesi Pratt Jnr. stated emphatically that, since 1992, the transition of power with the current date has been without any issues; therefore, he sees no relevance in shifting the date.
"I don't see the relevance of this reform to voting in November, which the parties have admitted should come into force in 2024," he said.

Always thinking against forward matching! Mr. One Shot!
HOW CAN YOU SEE ONCE YOU'VE CHOSEN TO BE BLIND?
And the December relevance?
Do you know how much it takes to organise a run off within 4 weeks? Talk is cheap.
Kwesi Rat sneaky bastard always doing the bidding of his pay masters. EC is mandated by law and they will do what is right and favours the populace. Kwesi Rat has no power to enforce other wise. His one sided and jaundice opinions doesn’t matter and irrelevant!!!
I would like to know how much Kwesi Pratt is paid to say what he says. His reasoning and, therefore, his logical conclusions do leave much to be desired as a senior journalist, if not for other reasons. The EC has a mandate to conduct fair and credible elections. If an incident is likely to happen in a situation where the EC will need ample time to resolve it but it has not yet occurred, it does not mean the EC cannot be proactive and put measures in place to resolve it. I do not believe changing the date to November 7 will create any hazard in the electoral process, especially if it favors the SDA. Just have confidence in the hard work of Miss Jane, and you are good to go, Kwesi.
