A member of the Legal Team of the largest National Democratic Congress (NDC), Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe, says some unfounded belief is the main reason the Electoral Commission (EC) is keen on changing the traditional date for Ghana’s general election.
The Electoral Commission has suggested moving the voting date from December 7 to November 7 and has also indicated its intention not to use indelible ink for the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.
Admitting the EC’s reasons don't hold, lawyer Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe also blamed it on “superstition”.
“I want to make this point, Madam Jean Mensah [EC boss] is driven by superstition. This amendment to change the December 7 election to November is pure superstition,” he said in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show, "Ghana Montie".
Lawyer Tamakloe further explained that “it appears anytime an election falls on the birthday of the opposing presidential candidate, things are favourable to that person,” he claimed.

@ obi-ba. I'm sorry but some of us won't be swayed by your stories. You're just naive enough not to see how desperate the npp government is right now. When the leaders of the party see danger, you're here trying to deceive so you can feel a bit good yourself . The reality is in 2020 elections , there was a hung parliament . In 2024, the NPP will be voted against and that's assured. Ah Obi-ba, we aren't ***barred word*** o. At least we're so clear about the achievements of JM in 4 years and Nana Addo's 8. Ah Obi-ba. Such dumbness
Anyone who believes that the NDC will win this election lacks the ability to read between the lines and is bitterly left with wishful thinking and superstition to make a decision. How can a political party present the policy of a 24/7 economy when the manufacturing base of the economy is underdeveloped? In other words, in real terms, how can you think of a shift system when the normal daily production hours have not been exhausted and a huge number of the youthful working force is selling second hand goods and literally trash from other countries on the streets? An opposition party that is cynically against everything and has nothing to offer.
It’s so nauseating to see foolsoldiers defend their failed leaders at all times. What’s the EC trying to improve . Such foolishness and you see comments from foolsoldiers and that’s how you come to believe Ken Agyapong’s assertion NPP members are dimwits. The NPP thinks EC is helping them so protecting her at all times is the best but forgetting NDC came into power before them . EC knows NDC will win and so she wants to try change certain stuffs just to deceive her paymasters 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The most idiotic statements I have heard from a suposed Lawyer. I think Ghana Law School must revise their criteria of admitting people into the profession.
So who really superstitious here? The guy is a lawyer and supposed to be learned? Really laughable indeed
You see, incompetent people are often overly cynical about progressive leadership and change. The EC has a mandate to run fair and credible elections. And to do that, the EC has to develop or improve existing systems. So the EC could have thought, researched, and come up with changes that could improve efficiency in the current state of technology and digitalization. And I bet you, Miss Jane, do not sleep on her work. I pleaded with former President Mahama to give her the benefit of the doubt. I just don't see how changing the election date to November 7 can cause any problems. Let alone has some supernatural and inept connotations other than incompetence. And this guy, Tamakloe, is supposed to be a lawyer who could stoop so low as to make these comments.
A lawyer talking about superstition, you are not serious. You and your party believe in superstition and the sacrifices your party have done will go waste. Anyway you have stolen millions you can do another sacrifice and still loose.
Rubbish Talk paa nie.
Are NDC correct? the party is full of unintelligent ***barred word*** half-baked literates, who always pull Ghana back from development...how can so called lawyer talk like this, when this has been proposed long time, even during previous NDC's tenure...
I thought this idea of a change in date for election 2024 was moved by the SDA church because they go to church on Saturday, the day of the 7 December, 2024 elections. has superstition got to do with this?
