Governance Lecturer at the Central University, Dr. Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah has reprimanded President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, over his statements to some traditional leaders from Ekumfi in the Central Region.
The President told the traditional leaders, who paid a visit to him at the Jubilee House to request development in the community, that he intentionally abandoned them because they voted against an NPP parliamentary candidate, Francis Ato Cudjoe.
Francis Ato Cudjoe was defeated by Abeiku Crentsil in the 2020 elections and according to the President, not providing development at Ekumfi was his payback to the people.
"Ato Cudjoe was your MP and I made him a Deputy Minister and you voted him out in the last elections and because of that, I did not pay attention to development in your area, I have to be honest with you but since you have brought it up I will pay attention to it", he said.
But to Dr. Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah, the President's comments are very unfortunate.
Dr. Otchere-Ankrah slammed President Akufo-Addo saying he dare not have made similar statements when he was pleading with Ghanaians to vote him into power.
"You wouldn't have said the same thing if you were a candidate. You would never say this thing", he stated.
Expressing disappointment in the President while speaking on "Kokrokoo" panel discussion programme on Peace FM, the lecturer admonished the President to be circumspect in his utterances stating it doesn't befit a leader and President of the Republic.
He reminded the President of his oath to Ghanaians during his swearing-in on January 7 saying "when you were being sworn in and while you were holding the bible, you pledged to serve the entire nation without favoritism".
He continued; "There is already the suspicion that the President has neglected certain constituencies. At first, it was a suspicion but we now know that that is how you are ruling the country. It is not good. You are giving your Communicators a difficult job."
He also assessed the impact of the President's statements on his Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's bid for Presidency, asking "will it help him to get votes or reduce his votes?"

Akufo-Addo had nothing to say, hence spewing that garbage. If you nothing good to you either gossip or you make unintelligent comments. That is exactly what our president did. Ghanaians have come to know the true colours of Akufo-Addo, who has always believed it was his birthright to be president of Ghana. He not a unifier neither is he a leader, but rather very vindictive conman who paraded himself as an angel to save Ghana from the lies he and his NPP fabricated to get Mahama out of their way so he will also become president 'some'.
By their fruits you shall know them.
This Lecturer Called Dr Otchere Ankrah is an Npp sympathizer doing the bidding of npp...jus watch they way he always projecting npp & Bawumia agenda, and way he criticizes Mahama and the Ndc
For me, the people of Ekumfi were lucky to have left the office of the president with only one blow. What about the people of Kwabre East constituency who gave Akuffo Addo 86,000 in the 2020 elections, the highest recorded by any constituency in Ghana that year? When the people of Kwabre complained of the bad nature of their roads, Akuffo Addo told them that was their problem, not his, and that when the times comes for them to vote, they can vote for the NDC, after all he's not the one who holds their thumps when they go to vote. If there is/was any politician Ghanaians had a lot of trust and confidence in to change Ghana for the better, it is/was no other person than Akuffo Addo. Unfortunately he has squandered a golden opportunity to have made history for himself and family. If Kufuor was behaving like we are seeing , i doubt whether Ghanaians would have given the opportunity to the NPP again. All the efforts of Kufuor to make the NPP attractive and vibrant are being dismantled by one man. Even die hard NPP supporters are eager to see him go. I pity Bawumia, he has two battles to fight at the same time. 1. How to convince the ordinary NPP supporter in the street who feels disappointed to make sacrifices again like they did in 2016. 2. How to defend the the numerous scandals some of which are such that however intelligent one is , its very difficult to defend. If you ask John Mahama, he will tell you he had a message in 2016 , Ghanaians heard him alright but did not listen. So it is not about having a message, come with your message, Ghanaians will hear, the question is 'Will they listen'? To know whether they listened or not will be known when counting of ballots starts. Ghanaians generally have a soft spot for the NPP, unfortunately the current crop of people at the helm of affairs have thrown caution to the wind as if they don't care about a future NPP. Any father who wants to secure the future of his children will not make certain utterances at family meetings even if he knows them.
This guy is totally funny guy paa. We don’t listen to this can of people. What are you talking about. Pokuase interchange Mahama dis it. You are full of funny.
Hmmmm boss, you're spot on with your thstatement I ask same questions when i heard what president said. I don't know what is becoming of our president these days. He would never had said so when he was campaigning for that office .incredible!
