President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has explained why his government has neglected development in Ekumfi in the Central region.
The decision, he explained is because the people voted against the the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate, Francis Kingsley Ato Cudjoe in the 2020 general elections.
The President Akufo-Addo noted that, he appointed the MP as Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture in his government to bring development to the area.
But once Mr. Ato Cudjoe was lost in the 2020 parliamentary elections, the people of Ekumfi also lost their developmental projects.
“I made Ato Cudjoe a Minister and a deputy Minister so he could do something there for you. But unfortunately he lost his seat in the next election and it’s all part of the reasons I also ignored you for a while, I must be honest with the truth” the President said.
The President’s admission came after the Kyedomhemaa of Ekumfi Traditional Area, Nana Enyimfua III, requested he increased development to enhance the living standards of their people.
However, after pleas from the family of late former President, Atta Mills, the President has changed his mind.
“But I’ve heard you and the year has just started so by the time the year ends, I’ll see what I can do,” President Akufo-Addo assured.

if a president do not respect his age and position and continue to talk loosely like someone insane ordinaly people talk to him any how. Kwamena Duncan, nana akomea, Kokofu, i hope you all heard what Akoffo Addo said, iam waiting to hear your comment. indeed Akoffo Addo came for power for no good intention
In 2020 the president commissioned the Ekumfi Fruits and Juices Factory under 1 district 1 factory. $15million spent and the facility is known to be the biggest processing factory for fruits in West Africa. Producing approximately 10 tons of fruits per hour. They started exporting to UK, UAE and US in 2023. Not only does the factory employ workers but the thousands of acres of farmland supplying the factory also provides jobs for the inhabitants. So let's stop pretending as if the president/government hasn't done anything for Ekumfi. Other regions also have needs so they should wait for their next turn.
@Koo, you are the reason why bad leaders are all over Ghana. The president should have been mindful of his age and position in the country when uttering those utterly disgustting words and we must be very blunt and not sugar-coat anything. If you old and stupidd we should not point it out? What are you saying? U know the brutal destruction this man and his cousin have done to the country and you're there being diplomatic with the truth. A president should never even think about those words he uttered much less say them to a national audience. He is a very vindictive and fuulish person, simple!
I don't condone the unprintable words being used on the President. For his age and the fact that he's the president of Ghana, I urge people to be measured in the words they use. That notwithstanding, such a mindset of a president is capable of destroying our country completely and all those that matter need to urgently come out and condemn these before Nana Addo extends this high level of pettiness and selfishness to sensitive areas like the security services, the outcome of such won't be containable. NPP elders and opinion leaders, put on your thinking brains and humane nature ahead of your partisan sheepish selves and put the president in order before he plunged our country to disarray in his final days.
so the taxes from ekumfi citizens so what youtake do? you the prez koraa you dont pay taxes. ok god go punish you well well
This ediot is uniquely unfit for president as some of us always knew. By the way Ghanaians should not be surprised if he says he won't hand over after 2024 elections! People may take this for granted but it is well within his bucket-list of ***barred word***. That a president who is maintained by tax payers' money which comprise tax-paying Ghanaians of different political persuasions can publicly and casually say he ignored the plea for development of a certain constituency because they did not vote for his preferred candidate is treasonous . It goes against the grain of democracy and the constitution which guarantees an individual's right to joining any association or group or supporting any political party and subsequently voting for the party he/she supports. If parliament were any useful entity this should warrant at the very least an impeachment enquiry. What is the meaning of this? Then why do we vote at all if a president can punish a constituency because how they vote by withdrawing development? This is electoral coercion at the highest level of power against innocent civilians. I was hoping the journalist who wrote the story was mistaken but alas, no. He could even afford a hearty laugh after uttering such scandalous words.
This is really a loose talk and very unfortunate statement from you, Mr President
Sometimes I feel this man like King Saul has lost the throne already. What a weak leader and to say this omg 😲
honestly Akoffo Addo has been bewitched or is becoming mad, why democracy if all vote for only one party? is the recources from only areas that voted you? do you collect tax from only people who voted for you? are you president for Ghana or area that voted for you. Akoffo Addo has lost it and need brain examination
Hmmmmnnnnn, so what reasons will you also give to the people of Kwabre East who gave 86,000 votes, the highest recorded by any constituency in the 2020 elections for given them a cheeky answer when they complained about the bad nature of roads in the constituency? You told them when its time for elections they can go and vote for the NDC, after all you are not the one who holds their thumps when they go to vote and that their problems are their problems not yours. At times one wonders whether this is same Akuffo Addo we heard of prior to the 2016 elections. Its like there are two (2) Akuffo Addo's. The pre-2016 Akuffo Addo and the post-2016 Akuffo Addo.
