The Member of Parliament (MP) for Nsawan Adoagyiri and Majority Chief Whip, Hon Frank Annor Dompreh is saddened by the decision of some "experienced" NPP MPs to hang their parliamentary boots.
Some Members of Parliament on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have reportedly declared their intention to retire from parliamentary work.
These MPs include Carlos Ahenkorah, Daniel Kwaku Botwe, MP for Okere who doubles as the Minister of Local Government, Rural Development, and Decentralisation, Samuel Atta Akyea, the MP for Abuakwa South in the Eastern region, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, MP for Suame.
The rest are Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, MP for Assin Central, Joe Osei Owusu, first deputy Speaker and MP for Bekwai, KT Hammond, Minister of Trade and Industry and MP for Adansi Asokwa, and Francisca Oteng, the MP for Kwabre East.
During an interview with Nana Yaw Kesseh, Annor Dompreh expressed his sadness over the departure of several experienced NPP MPs from Parliament, while the NDC (Minority caucus) MPs remain intact.
"The work we do in Parliament is not easy...it's like a competition and those we're competing with, none of them is leaving but we cannot cry over spilled milk; we need to protect the rest. The signal on the wall is dangerous. If care is not taken, all the experienced MPs will go and it’ll affect the work of Parliament" he said on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo'
Meanwhile, he has urged NPP members to work hard to support the party's Parliamentary aspirants including the incumbent to win and gain a majority in the House.

Annor Dompreh paaaa, what parliamentary experience did you have when you first entered parliament? I thought people get experience on the job. If it's about experience, then all surviving MP's in the Nkrumah, Busia and Hilla Limann's regimes should have been made automatic MP's in 1993. See the number of families in your constituency who's family members will get exgratia and V8 if every MP were to go for 4 years only. Which other in this country will one get exgratia after every 4 years of service if not political office. This is the actual meaning of " prosperity for all "
Its unfortunate but that is the reality of the bad leadership of the Akufo- Addo and Bawumias leadership. Its just the beginning! The elephant family has collapsed and will totally collapsed and Nana Akufo-Addo is the root causes of such an disintergrated and divisional tribal politics in the party. I am sorry, the Elephant Family will be in crises untill Akufo-Addos grave is dug out without his skeleton to recocile the party again but that will be done in the next world.
@ Takum! in your dreams. Do you think Ghanaians have short memories? NPP worse is the best of NDC. Ghanaians still remembers the hardship NDC and JDM took them through even without covid etc.
The hang parliament was just too toxic. With fights and blows and NDC refusing anything that makes sense who wants to be in such an environment
This guy is so dumb he can't read the signs on the horizon. With the worst government Ghana has ever had in our democratic experiment they don't fancy their chances and they don't want to loose the monies they have stolen through bribery of corrupt delegates. They prefer to keep that money because they will be in opposition for at least 8 long years. That is why they want to opt out in this years elections. No government with this performance has ever been retained in power by the people of Ghana. Never.
