The Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has clarified a ‘misinterpretation’ after being heard in a viral video stating that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was looting the country like there was no tomorrow.
The NPP flagbearer aspirant claimed in a statement released Wednesday that the words ascribed to him are a “complete and unfortunate misrepresentation” of sentiments he expressed at a fundraising meeting with NPP communicators in Kumasi over the weekend.
According to him, he bemoaned at the occasion that the NPP communicators were letting the party down, and that every government will have its fair share of corruption issues, especially in eight years.
Mr. Agyapong explained he told his audience that “we have, sadly, allowed the ruthless opposition propaganda machinery, the mass media, and the social media to create the deadly impression that the NPP was looting as if there was no tomorrow, including allegations of stashing funds abroad.”
“I wish to stress the point that the offending video was culled from a private meeting with some communicators in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, over the weekend, and edited to purposefully create disaffection towards me, Ken Ohene Agyapong and to bring the Akufo-Addo government into disrepute,” he asserted.
The presidential hopeful said he told the gathering not to be fooled by the lies against “our government and party.”
“I also expressed my anger and unhappiness about the way we were allowing ourselves to be unfairly bashed in the media, especially social media, as if we were worse than the NDC, which is certainly not the case,” he pointed out.
“I am fully aware of the commitment shown by President Akufo-Addo, in deeds and institutional reforms, in combating the canker of corruption in Ghana and the challenges that entail,” he posited.
He stated that he was still a devoted member of the NPP and hoped to lead the party in its quest to “break the eight,” noting that “together, we face John Mahama and the NDC for the showdown on December 7, 2024.”

You want to be a leader of a political party, but anytime you open your mouth, you insult everybody in the party and make all kinds of unprintable works on them. This is childish and generally immature. The NPP has become so weak that somebody like Ken can wake up and wish to become President on their ticket. Anyway, I am happy with the insults from him, it will sink NPP further.
You go explain TAYA, Ken and your NPP you all ***barred word***
Yes, God is our WATCHMAN. We go to HIM with our petitions in reverence. If you had regarded the BoG Head of Security as a WATCHMAN in this your rebuttal, you would have handed over your petition with the speed of light. Stop the hypocrisy and apologise honourably as Sosu (Madina MP) has don.
There is no hurry in life is a truism after all. Ablakwah have you heard Ken Adjepong now? Do you still stand by the " he knows what is is talking about" stance? When Ken once said he supported you financially you went haywire calling him names. He was unworthy of truthfulness then? These NDC guys hmmm
