Controversial pollster Ben Ephson says John Alan Kyerematen's long-time ambition to be President of Ghana will never come to reality – but a continuous personal dream.
According to him, Mr. Alan Kyerematen’s political dream collapsed after his decision to leave the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
"If you want to be a third force you must be able to have a political party," he said in response to a question as to whether Alan wants to be a third force, adding, "I've done 22 years of polling, the only person as an independent candidate if he had contested would have gotten over 20 to 25% was the late Kofi Annan . . . even Rawlings didn't try to go independent, he formed a party, Rawlings was very popular but he formed a party. . . for you Alan your own party don't even know you . . . Alan's greatest political mistake was not to go to parliament."
Ben Ephson emphatically told Kwesi Aboagye on NEAT FM’s morning show, 'Ghana Montie' that,"if he gets 1% in my view he has done very well but he can't get it".
He claimed his contribution to his former party in recent times wasn’t enough which caused his popularity.
“Alan, nobody knows him in the party . . . ,” he told host Kwesi Aboagye.

See the cry babies lamenting about Alan. You guys are not even ashamed to front for Bawumia? Oh, Ama Ghana, you have suffered enough under these not just incompetent but clueless Akuffo Addo and Bawumia government. Alan stands out tall compared to the lizard head nodding Bawumia. As for Ben Ephson, apart from being empty headed person, his stomach has clouded his sense of judgement. Am sad for how NPP is being micro-managed by this current executives. Anyway, not their fault, they have been subdued to do the bidding of Akuffo Addo who unfortunately has turned out to be the monster of our politics and governance. Weep not Ghana!!!
You people think all that matters is getting a political position? No noble person will join forces with a con man, an incompetent and failure beyond description, only greedy or feeble minded people will entertain Bawumia for presidency
@Obi-Ba,your observation is sharp, brilliant and accurate,Alan was ill advice or was misled by his ego,age and his longer stay in the party...I remember Hon.Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu,Hon Atta Akyea etc.,proposed this,Alan rejected it.I believe it's not too late,he must swallow his arrogance, apologize and lobby for vice presidency, else he must forget about his aspiration.
Agreed with Ben.
I believe Alan would have become Vice President of Ghana if he had strategised well. His resignation from the party he claims to have helped found because he came third in the party's internal election arrangement belies that of a Santaclausian. This internal election is simply to select five candidates to vie for the position of flagbearer to represent the party in the presidential election. Given Alan's notable achievements for the party, he could easily use his third position to lobby for the winner to become his Vice-President. In fact, as a Santaclausian and an alumnus of Adisadel College, he should not have resigned, but should have stuck to the motto 'vel primus vel cum primis', i.e. either the first or with the first, and fought for the position of Vice-President. After all, if he failed even in his attempt to become president, it would have been a nobler feat to end his political career as vice-president.
Alan got it wrong big time and this brings into question his judgement when elected as President in an unlikely scenario. Let us see where he ends. Sorry for him.
You see, when the political dynamic changes, it becomes very important for you to strategise to achieve your political goals and ambitions. In multi-party democracy, the emphasis is on competition, competence and hard work. Let me make a disection here just to make certain attributes of keen competitors who are both in the same party: hard work, competence and trustworthiness are their credentials. But it happens that one of them is vice-president at a given time, the other a cabinet minister, and both believe in modernity in terms of the technology of the time. Nevertheless, they both want to lead their beloved party to the presidency. It seems that, among other things, the fact that one is a vice-president gives him an advantage over the other in the party's internal electoral arrangements for the flagbearer race. What would you say if you were advising the relevant cabinet minister? Incidentally, I would have advised them to join forces by switching positions, so to speak, if they were to win the presidential election and form a new government, so that the vice-president would become president and the cabinet minister his vice-president. And I bet that their party, as hardworking and competent as they are, would have a chance of winning subsequent elections. by then the good policies, 1D1F and others might have matured. Eventually, they will both be presidents of Ghana. Enough said.
