Nana Boakye has appealed to the rank and file of the New Patriotic Party to refrain from the use of invectives on the person of Alan Kyerematen, a former Trade Minister and presidential hopeful of the party.
Alan Kyerematen sent shocking waves into the New Patriotic Party on Monday when he announced he has severed ties with the party.
He informed the public of his decision to contest the 2024 elections as an independent candidate.
"I am honourably resigning with immediate effect from the NPP to contest for the high office of the President of the Republic of Ghana as an independent presidential candidate", he said at a press conference in Accra.
Alan Kyerematen, popularly called 'Alan Cash', disclosed he is going to lead a new movement called the "Movement for Change" and narrated what this movement seeks to achieve.
"The brand logo for the MOVEMENT is the Monarch Butterfly, which politically symbolizes change and transformation, hope, and positivity. It also communicates strength, endurance, spirituality, and trust, which are key traits that I cherish as a Political Leader. In Akan, it is known as Afrafranto."
He emphasized "the concept of an Independent Candidate becoming the President of the Republic of Ghana though novel, will be the most innovative and revolutionary development in Ghana’s political history".
"It will indeed be a watershed development in Ghana...what Ghana needs now is a new leader and not a new political party," he added and promised his presidency will break the duopoly of the New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress.
Alan's announcement has provoked mixed reactions from his former party and the public.
Reacting to this latest development, Nana Boakye alias Nana B pleaded with all members and supporters of the NPP to concentrate on building the party, stressing "the party is united".
He noted that the party respects Alan's decision and cautioned no one should insult nor mock him.
"We should not ridicule anybody...We don't have any problem with them...nobody should speak against him. Let's concentrate as a party and keep on working," he told Nana Yaw Kesseh on Peace FM's morning show "Kokrokoo".

Yes, even though i equally don't support the move taken by Allan, any attempt by any NPP small boy could have far reaching implementations going into the 2024 elections. Allan may have come out openly to announce his resignation. What about those NPP supporters who have taken a similar stand but are quietly waiting for 7 December, 2024 to express it. Remember the NDC got to know they were about to lose the 2016 elections when counting of ballots started by which time it was too late to make any amends. At times we need to emulate the elderly. If you know your father will never come out openly to insult or redicule someone, don't insult or redicule either. I know Bawumia( vice), Ntim( chairman), Kodua Frimpong ( gen sec), Markins( dep. majority leader) Fred Oware( vice chairman)Hackman Owusu Agyemang ( council of elders chairman etc will never openly insult or redicule Allan ( even though they are some of those enjoying the goodies) , so why will a mere jobless party communicator sit on TV or radio and insult a political opponent. If you think Allan can't build, also ask yourself whether he can't pull down, if you build and someone from behind continue to pull down, will you ever build a completed house? The NPP should remember Akuffo Addo just needed 5,000 to cross the 50%+ 1 mark which never was.Same can happen in 2024 so every single vote matters. Those who think they have grabbed enough so if the NPP loses the 2024 elections it won't affect them thus the empty pride they are displaying should remember that in Ghana 95 % of politicians look more miserable than before after their party loses power, ask them they will tell you they made a lot of money when they were in power. Overnight riches don't last, it's just a matter of time. They better be careful.
