Bernard Allotey Jacobs has once again cautioned the New Patriotic Party not to make a mistake of choosing any presidential candidate apart from Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the party makes its way to elect their flagbearer on November 4.
Allotey Jacobs, who had before the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Special Delegates Conference on August 26, 2023, forewarned the party against failing to elect Dr. Bawumia and the regrets they would have as a result, has justified why the latter is their best bet to winning the 2024 elections.
According to him, electing Dr. Bawumia will ruin the chances of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), the main competitor of the ruling party, in winning next year's election.
"Bawumia's flagbearership will be the biggest threat to the existence of the NDC . . . the emergence of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will be a threat to President John Mahama," he exclaimed.
The former NDC Central Regional Chairman explained that Bawumia's candidature will send a strong signal to the northern sectors of Ghana and win massive votes for the New Patriotic Party, reiterating the 2024 election will be a "clash of the Northern Titans".
He noted that Bawumia's hard work, popularity and impact in the North is unmatched, hence "if the NPP gives their maximum support for Bawumia, there's trouble for the largest opposition party".
Allotey added that he chooses Bawumia because he is "the best material that can change the Ghanaian perception, that can change the Ghanaian dynamics, that can change a lot of things in our political space".
He gave this admonition to the New Patriotic Party while speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" show Wednesday morning.

@ohemaa ba, both NPP and NDC fall short of what you are expecting of a political party in this time and age. Don't also live in a disillusionment thinking the NPP as exposed by Akufo Addo led government is any better. Where are the sound policies that have been expounded from thorough philosophical thinking, and is what is needed by Ghana for now and the future and is being followed meticulously and strictly? There's not a single one from this government, only free senior high school policy could have qualified for one, except that it's been marred with excessive corruption, characteristic of this government and it's also being implemented haphazardly, making it unsustainable in the near future. Everything else, is in disarray and without any direction. For example, hasty decisions and implementations of nuisance tax regimes, propagandist policies and governance, seeking to score political points takes preeminence over everything, lawlessness, destruction of our democracy and rule of law are rampant these days, unprecedented corruption in the civil service and political offices, every young and old person appointed to the jubilee house and other offices, must become wealthy overnight, they have destroyed the strength of institutions by electing themselves as "big" people that one must "see" before they can do businessess or resolve their issues. In summary, there's absolutely nothing good to write home about in the Akufo Addo, Bawumia led government and these are the reasons why we're in this failed economic situation and not any external factors, those have only a fraction of the causative factors.
Ghanaians recognise and appreciate the performance of the Akufo-Addo government in the midst of the challenges facing the country. I believe the NDC is aware of this and will stop living in an illusory propaganda world of cynicism. It is a pity to hear the whole professor advocating huliganism and intimidation of the Electoral Commissioner in the absence of a convincing political message or alternative, better policies that can turn things around and improve the lives of the electorate. Relying solely on propaganda to make the ruling party unbelievable and unpopular in the eyes of the electorate smacks of incompetence in a multi-party democracy that derives its strength from ideology, principles and tradition that inform its political message and policies. To me, the NDC seems to have lost all these in baseless political polemics and propaganda against its political opponent.
True talk of a junkie
True talk Dat. Obed Asamoah said the same thing years back that if Dr.Bawumia was to lead Npp, he will be the biggest threat to Mahama.
