The Member of Parliament for the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has offered an unreserved apology to the New Patriotic Party (NPP), specifically to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and the Chief of Staff Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, for her recent behaviour.
Mrs Safo clarified that her actions were unintended and were a result of personal challenges she was grappling with, both as an individual and as a member of a family.
The former Deputy Majority Leader also sought forgiveness from the Majority Caucus, as well as from the party's regional and constituency executives.
She expressed her remorse in a two-minute video address to the nation published on her Facebook page, urging all her constituents to forgive her actions.
In 2022, Adwoa Safo faced the Privileges Committee of Parliament after being absent for over a year. The status of her seat became a point of contention, with fellow Majority members advocating for it to be declared vacant, in opposition to National Democratic Congress (NDC) MPs.
As of now, the Speaker has yet to make a ruling based on the Committee's report.
Upon her return to Ghana from the United States of America, the former Minister of Procurement stated her intentions to participate in the party’s primaries for the 2024 elections.

You left out the most important people from your apology, the people of Kwabenya who voted for you to lead them. You abandoned them and left them without a voice in parliament and you did not even have the curtesy to render an apology to them. SMH
Please, go and join your SHOWDOWN HUSBAND (Kennedy Agyapong a.ka. Mr showdown). We are more smarter than you.
Either this spoilt brat is bipolar or her constituency is made up of people with low wits! She is definitely bipolar and needs help!
NPP will go to opposition straight if they dare accept you. Dome will never ever vote for you da. if you like mark it on the wall. will loose embarassingly potooo. try it. aaaaah this small girl paaa. You think incoming president Kennedy will help you somewhere. madam forget it. we know that man is a very principled and will be a good leader
This is so simple decision to take. Concentrate on your so called family and allow the ready-to-work citizens to be voted to parliament for Dome electoral zone. The apology is long overdue. Not needed now. Look elsewhere - US as a divided citizen. If the NPP executives allow you to contest, God will punish them more than the 400 years the people of Isrealites during Abram days suffered. Dome-Kwabenya people, wise up.
Obviously you were forced to render this unconvincing apology. Why did it take you so long to do this? You came back and arrogantly walked into parliament while holding your own party to ransom during crucial elections. Take this advice from me. after your term ends, go back to your individual and family problems n concentrate on solving it. You chose to serve the people of Dome Kwabenya and Ghana as a whole not your children. I personally forgive you for the ignorance in the profession you thought you could handle. I will be the first to congratulate you and to walk you out of parliament.. You are part of the reason women arent givien a chance in higher places.. Flat out lazy.
Hahahaaaaa, why won't you leave politics and go and concentrate on what you were doing. You hijack a whole ruling government for close to a year simply because the party does not have enough members of parliament. You were misbehaving because of the order from above for you to reverse the letter you wrote sacking one lady who was the national cordinator for the school feeding program and wife of late Major courage Quashigah. Where were you when major Quashigah and others were all over the country trying to ensure the NPP was deeply rooted. Where were you when the likes of Madam Theresa Tagoe, Christine Churcher, Gladys Asmah, Otiko Afisah Djaba , Madam Hawa Yakubu were all over the country canvassing for women to embrace the NPP which finally yielded the fruits people like you are enjoying today. If I have power you will never contest anything NPP and win. You can go and take American citizenship and stay there for life , who cares. Having disrespected people who are older than your parents, you have now come to your senses and rendering apologies. The "rains " are about to fall because the clouds are gathering, so you now see the need for a nest ?
You are now looking for votes again and realised you have to apologise. Too late. Nobody will vote for you again. You betrayed your party and your voters.
Adwoa, it is good you have apologised. But remember that members of the party reserve the right to accept or reject your apology. Note that your apology will not reverse the chaos and economic difficulties your absence in parliament caused. If you throw a ball to the wall, it will come back to you. Have you seen that you now need the party to go to parliament again. I will advise you not to seek re-election as you will now have time to attend to your pressing issues that kept you absent from parliament over a year. A word to a wise is enough.
Adwoa well done for noticing your wrongs and apologizing to all concerned . My only comment is that you left it a bit too late. You should have done this earlier. Better still well done for doing what is noble.
