The MP for Efiduase and the leader of Dr. Bawumia’s camp, Nana Ayew Afriyie has said that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the wrong person for Kennedy Agyapong to attack when it comes to issues relating to Ghana's return to the IMF.
The MP explained that anything concerning the IMF or the bad state of the economy should be addressed to the finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta.
He also added that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is a strategist because of how he was able to bounce back from cleaning dormitories, driving cabs and doing other menial jobs to become the person he is now.
“I will say that he should direct it to the Minister of Finance and when he (Bawumia) is in charge, he will take charge and take us to the promised land. We are going to the promised land. DMB is taking us there. …He (Agyapong) should attack the finance minister not him (Bawumia),” Nana Ayew Afriyie told TV3.
“He shared his experiences. When he used to clean to go to school to pay his fees; drive taxis, cabs. So, any person can be president one day. Any person’s child, regardless of where you are in this country, there is an opportunity for you to be where you have to be,” he added.
Background:
An NPP flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Agyapong fired shots at the campaign team of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Speaking to delegates of the NPP in the Kintampo East Constituency as part of an ongoing campaign, the Assin Central MP sent a strong warning to the camp of the vice president noting that he will go on full offensive if the personal attacks directed at him do not cease.
"If NPP people don’t engage in a clean campaign, they will be in trouble because I will reply when you say something.
"For someone who claims to be a strategist, the dollar was GHC4 equivalent when we took power. Today, the dollar is GHC12. Do you think you are a strategist? Excuse me, strategist! Please,” Kennedy said.
Mp for Effiduase Asokore and leader of the MP caucus for Dr. Bawumia, Dr. Ayew Afriyie has said his colleague lawmaker who is contesting for the NPP flagbearership slot, Kennedy Agyapong missed his "strategist" target.#TV3NewDay pic.twitter.com/TpMTB3YvE3

Why Bawumia? What has he achieved in government? He should be second in command but he is too soft. He has been overtaken by so many. I like the man but not for president. He is not a go-getter.
Ken says he has the biggest cold store in Africa and he's employed so many people. Yet the so called "strategist" can not boast of anything like that. Thanks for your contribution towards the development of mother Ghana @ Ken Agyapong. If that is the basis for your Presidential ambition then I would suggest you yield to Apostle Kwadwo Safa Kantanka.lol
The six presidential candidates who are busy attacking the Npp government because of Bawumia are really annoying overwhelming majority of the Npp supporters. Excuse me to say, what a juvenile campaign- The Npp government which I was just part of it has been doing poorly so vote for me to lead the Npp in order for the people of Ghana to vote for me. It’s just pathetic.
You attack Bawumia, you are attacking the Npp because no matter whatever you guys do, Bawumia is going to emerge as the eventual winner. Ken should be reminded that he needs a continuation of a Npp governance for his businesses to thrive. You Ken, you said it yourself that the army came to turn your cold storage lights off and they were there standing laughing at you. Ken, has no chance to become the president of Ghana. Ghanaians haven’t forgotten about how he nearly plunged the country into civil war. We haven’t forgotten how Ken mention the real name of Womanhood on the national radio and tv to castigate Afua Shua.
I wish that Bawumia takes control of his campaign team by asking them not to respond to any attacks on him. These attacks and counter attacks is not what will make the delegates vote for anybody, they are matured enough to make decisions on their own. The various aspirants should remember that there among the delegates people who are equally educated and more than qualified to be president. I wish that Bawumia learns from former president Kufuor. Kufuor during his presidency did not respond to attacks, at times he pretends as if he has not even heard of attacks on his person. Today he stands out as the most successful president of in the fourth republic, the only statesman Ghanaians can currently boast of is former president Kufuor. He has been able to maintain his respect because he does not respond to pedestrian/ makola market accusations. I remember what Kufuor once said when someone referred to him as 'Atta Ayi'. ( The most wanted criminal in Ghana some years back). When his attention was drawn to it, we all expected him to hit hard on that person but No, he didn't. He simply said, when you are bathing and a ***barred word*** comes to take your cloths you don't run out from the bathroom naked and chasing the ***barred word*** for your cloths, if you do that how will people know which of the two is mad. Today where is that person who called him 'Atta Ayi'? I wish Bawumia learns from this. The elders have a saying that if you want to live longer do not reply to elderly people who offend you, just look at their face and move away. It is the lack of patience on the part of a dog for fighting a cock over a bone. Just watch the cock, it will struggle with the bone for some time, it soon realizes it can't chew the bone and goes away leaving the bone behind intact. The bone then becomes cool chop for the dog.
Yet to hear any bad comment directed at Ken Agyapong when Kwabena Agyapong debunked his claim about his contribution towards NPP at the initial stages he did not reply. I guess Bawumia is a very easy target for him to disrespect him. Who hasn't Ken insulted in this country..yet he wants to be president. Who is gonna vote for him.
