Kwamena Duncan has reprimanded the traditional leaders of Assin North supporting the call on the Attorney General to discontinue the criminal charge against the Member of Parliament for Assin North, James Gyakye Quayson.
The Chiefs have admonished President Nana Akufo-Addo and the Attorney General to drop the charges and end any trial of Gyakye Quayson.
The Chiefs made this solemn request in Parliament after the swearing-in of Gyakye Quayson.
Speaking to Journalists, the Queen mother of Assin Bereku, Nana Hemaa Afia Ntiamoah said they back the calls by the Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II, for the President to discontinue the case.
"We are appealing to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and the Attorney General to discontinue criminal prosecution of Gyakye Quayson. We will be deprived of developments if the case continues. We the people of Assin North elected him, we should all come together to build Assin North. We are suffering because there’s no MP. We also stand by what Dormaahene said. Let’s stop the bickering and come together as one," she said.
But Kwamena Duncan, a former Central Regional Minister, has bemoaned the reaction of the Assin North traditional leaders to the Gyakye Quayson issue.
According to him, the Chiefs have allowed themselves to be influenced by the opposition National Democratic Congress into what he termed as their 'dirty' politics.
"They allowed themselves to be drawn into an NDC dirty political campaigning . . . you are being partisan," he said, wondering since when did Chiefs directly involve themselves in the business of Parliament.
He explained that Chiefs are known not to make statements anyhow, thus it was wrong for them to have spoken about the Gyakye Quayson's legal battle particularly in the Legislative House.
"When did this happen?", he questioned.
"Since when did Nananom stand in Parliament, on a platform created by the NDC, to make a request when they want to talk to the President," he decried.
He appealed to the Chiefs not to allow themselves to be roped into partisan politics.

Uncle Kwamena ,we may have politics with everything but not judicial .It is very dangerous for the people to lose trust in the judicial .Today your people are in power so when everything is ok .
Nana Abekah -SA is one of the NDC characters suffering from an acute brain disorder. I am sure Ghana is practicing democracy and so why Nana Abekah-SA choose to vilify a fellow Ghanaian unfairly. Your uncultured attacks on Hon. Kwamena DUcan is sheer ***barred word*** .That Nana guy should respect dissenting views rather than personal attacks. If Ghanaian s should go by the Dormaahene as a judge commentary then all prisoners in Ghana should be pardoned and judiciary services closed down indefinitely because every persons in Ghana is equally important before the law
If the Attorney General drops this case, then lies have prevail over truth and law and this country is doomed. Corruption is being entrenched and moving to the next level in Ghana. Nananom sold people as slaves in the past and are now taking money to kill due process. Wow...this must stop. Attorney General ensure that this trial continues to its logical end.
If the Attorney General drop the charges against Mr Quason then all court proceedings, all prisoners in the country must be pardoned immediately, the security services including the military must stop working because there’s no laws in the country. What kind of human beings do we have in Ghana? Who even made those laws? Are we serious as humans?
THE VOICE OF THE CHIEFS IS NDC CHORUS! THEY SHOULD LET US BE; THE CASE SHOULD CONTINUE! WERE THEY NOT AWARE OF THE DANGERS BEFORE EMBARKING ON THAT DISAPPOINTING COURSE?
What a heel educated illiterate kwamena Duncan think he is? Is there no person to face this failed ex- minister in my father region and tell him Ghana don't belong to him? Does he think he is clever and important than all people talking for the case to be dropped. Where is dormaa youth? If there is no person to face him I have to fly from SA and face him squarely. Enough of his ***barred word***
