Former President John Dramani Mahama says the country’s financial stability is at the heart of his campaign to lead the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Addressing party jubilant who cheered him on after going through his vetting successfully,  Mahama said he has two main agendas and one of them is to bring back discipline into the country’s finances.

According to him, government has demonstrated that it is incapable of running affairs for which reason he is launching another bid to become the NDC candidate in the 2024 election.

John Mahama also expressed his commitment to repairing governance systems and fighting corruption. For him, anti-corruption institutions have been dissipated by the Akufo-Addo-led administration. Mr Mahama insists that it will take his leadership to restore the free mandate of such institutions. He further stated that reviewing the 1992 Constitution will also be high on the agenda.

Sending a word of congrats to the other three aspiring presidential candidates, Mr Mahama said the situation in this country needs the party’s unity to be able to execute their agenda.

John Mahama described the 12-member vetting committee chaired by former speaker of parliament Hon Doe Adjaho as a strong panel adding that questioning his vision, ideologies and views on how to repair Ghana was the top most.

On March 2, Mr Mahama launched his NDC flagbearership campaign themed ‘Building The Ghana We Want Together’.

Addressing party faithfuls in Ho, John Mahama explained that trust in the Akufo-Addo-led government had been eroded due to the economic mismanagement resulting from incompetent, inefficient leadership and general non-performance he described as abysmal.
