The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Joseph Osei-Owusu, has retained the Bekwai Parliamentary seat in the Ashanti Region for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) with a landslide victory.
Available provisional result indicates that Joe Wise polled 40,275 votes against his main contender, Kwasi Amofa Agyeman, who contested as Independent candidate after breaking away the NPP. Mr. Agyeman polled 22,221 votes.
The parliamentary candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Charles Oppong also polled 2,877 of the valid votes cast.
The certified result is yet to be released by the Electoral Commission.
Mr. Osei Owusu has been a Member of Parliament (MP) from 2009 to date.
