The Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission, Professor Stephen Adei has descried what he terms as hypocrisy in the fight against corruption in the country.
According to him, the country’s fight against corruption is mainly hindered by people who have been put in positions to curb the practice.
His comment comes on the back of a recent documentary by freelance journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni, which captured the Chief Executive Officer of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) allegedly engaged in corrupt practices.
“It’s amazing when the watchdog or the keepers themselves come out themselves to be probably among the most corrupt,” he bemoaned; and suggest that “what is really needed is a few committed people who will dedicate their life to say that not only would we as individuals will not engage into corruption but we will not allow other people to get away with corruption.”
The documentary, ‘Contract For Sale’ featured the PPA boss, Mr Adjeinim Boateng Adjei allegedly selling government contracts through his own private company, Talent Discovery Limited (TDL).
The President Akufo-Addo last Thursday, suspended Mr Adjei from office and directed the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) and the Office of the Special Prosecutor to investigate the matter.
