Member of Parliament (MP) for Juaboso constituency, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, says President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s ‘hypocritical’ attempt to disband parties’ militia clearly shows that he is not on top of issues in the country.
He is therefore asking for the president to step down for his apparent lack of knowledge about events transpiring under his watch.
The NDC MP argued that the president’s call on the NDC for a dialogue to denounce vigilante groups and the recent exposé of similar group aligned with the ruling party stationed at the Osu Castle in Accra, is a clear indication that he is not fully abreast with current happenings in Ghana, securitywise.
A JOY NEWS investigation aired last week, sought to suggest that the former seat of government, the Osu Castle, is now the breeding grounds for a pro-New Patriotic Party militia, De-Eye group.
Director of Communications at the Office of the President, Eugene Arhin, who is captured in the footage, explained to the Kokomlemle-based media house that “the President has no knowledge of the alleged activities of this group, let alone sanctions their activities. My checks from National Security have revealed that no such group is operating from the Castle.”
Hours after the investigative piece was broadcast, Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, issued a statement debunking some aspects of the documentary, most especially the portion claiming the Osu Castle, the operational headquarters of the group, is a security zone.
But the NDC lawmaker wondered why the group should even be allowed access to the place, much more to use it as a base for recruitment and training purposes.
“How can we have about four ministries operating from the castle and at the same time a vigilante group operating from the same place?” he questioned.
He also described the government communiqué regarding the report as a “Kwesu Anase story” – adding that, “No one will believe if the president says he knows nothing about them [De-Eye group]”.
Speaking on NEAT FM’s political program, ‘Asem Yi Di Ka’, Saturday, March 9, 2019, Mr Akandoh called on the president to “resign” from his position since “he is not on top of issues in this country”.
“We can’t have such a person as a president who doesn’t know about the going-ons in this country,” he told host Mac Jerry Osei Agyeman.

It is only in Ghana that this guy can be an MP. I sit not the same guy who during his vetting said being a dinning hall prefect is a job experience?. Just keep quiet and let those with proper working experience do their job.
This guy comes from one of the poorest constituencies in this country and as such must resign and pave way for others in that poor constituency to also enjoy the wealth of the country. He's been in Parliament for too long. With the level of poverty in the country no one should be allowed to go to Parliament for more than 2 terms, we need to do that to reduce poverty. All the country's wealth is being enjoyed by very few individuals and that is creating too much gap between the very rich and the very poor. #Akandoh must resign!
Akandoh's father stole fertilizer meant for the people yet he continued to stay in parliament instead of resigning. JM received Ford bribe from Kanazoe yet Akandoh defended it spiritedly, instead of asking him to resign. Akandoh was part of a minority in parliament whose leader was reported to have collected bribe on their behalf, yet he did not resign. If not Ghana, where in the world would somebody who perceived "DINING HALL PREFECT" as an achievement that deserved to show up in his CV to parliament? And he is also addressed as Hon? Disgusting!
Even Mahama, the NDC wants him to be president again. To CREATE, LOOT & SHARE for the last time. Now that he (Mahama) knows he can't come back again, he will sell the whole Ghana to his family, not the bauxite only!
dining hall prefect. You Akanba, had it not being parliament is so cheap who are you to be called Hon.
Is this man speaking from his mouth or from his xxxthole? When JDM brought the GITMO 2 against the huge outcry from the Ghanaian populace, he didn't resign but waited for the people sack him from office. When JDM used a comic petition to free the MUNTIE 3 against every notable personality's revulsion, he didn't resign, he danced to "Yentie Obiaa" until the people of Ghana, in whom the sovereign authority resides expelled him. Are you carrying our your Chairman's agenda of making Ghana ungovernable for the ruling party our you are really using your head?
did you say the president to resign. by the way did you vote for him? don't be ***barred word*** NDC. non of you voted for him, we how voted for him likes him so you can go and burn the sea we don't care ***barred word*** NDC
AKANBAH, did you ask your ***barred word*** to resign when he accepted the FORD as a bribe price? hypocrites
