The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is poised to go head-to-head with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the contest for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Parliamentary seat.
The seat became vacant following the demise of Hon. Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko, the long-term Member of Parliament for the area, on Wednesday, November 21 last year.
The Electoral Commission (EC) would open and receive the nominations for the by-election on Thursday, January 10 to Saturday, January 12, 2019.
The EC has disclosed the by-election will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2019.
Speaking to sit-in host Nana Yaw Kesseh on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', the former District Chief Executive of the Upper Denkyira West, Ambrose Amoah Ashyia stated optimistically that the Ayawaso West Wuogon seat will be for the NDC after the by-election is held.
According to him, the NDC is working hard to clinch a landslide victory saying "we are very confident that this time we will win Ayawaso West Wuogon".
