Kwesi Pratt, Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, says Ghanaians are suffering under the Akufo-Addo government.
Speaking to host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', Kwesi Pratt wondered why leaders of the nation are toying with the lives of Ghanaians by playing politics with the economy.
The downward spiral of the cedi against the U.S. dollar and other major currencies, as well as the prevailing harsh economic environment, has been a source of bother to the general public, most especially business operators.
The local currency has neared the GHS5: US$1 mark.
The frequent increase in the price of fuel has also worsened the situation
Commenting on the recent hikes in fuel prices, the seasoned journalist asked why the leaders and socio-economic commentators instead of addressing the plight of the citizenry, rather go about trading in terminologies and using jargons to confuse Ghanaians.
Terms like "GDP percentage, debt ratio and so forth"; he wondered if such would bring bread and butter to the table.
He therefore called on the government to address concerns of Ghanaians on the fuel price increment and cedi depreciation among others by fixing the economy, saying "we’re suffering. The President has admitted that we’re suffering. So, where from the percentage of GDP, debt ratio and so forth; it’s all not taking us forward but we keep retrogressing? That is the point! So, these things we say don’t help anyone. It doesn’t help the government. It doesn’t help opposition. It helps nobody”.

KWASIAA MAN YOU WERE ABLE TO SURVIVE UNDER MAHAMA.MR PRATT PLEASE YOU CAN DIE IN PEACE.YOU NOW SEE HOW IT IS DIFFICULT TO GET BUY FOOD AND FUEL.USELESSSS MAN.
It has been well established that the economic conditions under Mahama were worse than what pertains today. Businesses borrowed at a higher cost than they do today. Cost of living which is determined by the CPI was higher under the NDC than today. The Cedi depreciated at a much faster pace than it is today. Teacher trainees were not paid any allowance as well as nursing trainees today they enjoy some allowances. Parents paid over GHC2000.00 for their wards' fees. Today they save those amount. Interestingly, Kwesi Pratt felt much comfortable under the NDC than he does today. How is that the case? Everybody's guess is as good as mine. It is true that times are hard because we are not out of that deep corruption aided hole that was created by Mahama and his luuting brigade yet. But for greedy pigs like Kwesi Pratt to cry on the roof tops that they are suffering? I am tempted to ask them to go burn the sea.
Why won't you suffer; now that Mahama's free money and fuel are not flowing and MMDA's are no longer forced to buy your ***barred word*** newspaper. Brace yourself for more suffering.
kwasi pratt, you no longer get the media kick backs, so cry out aloud.
no more mahamah corrupt kick back
