Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper has apologized for publicly stating that Anas' documentary; Number 12 was a collaboration between the BBC and the ace investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
Mr Baako had earlier stated that the latest investigative piece by Anas was a joint cooperative piece between Tiger Eye PI and the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).
"I had said so publicly that it was a joint project . . . why I said so was because the people who were dealing with Anas three of them I know for the last 30 to 40 years were BBC people. Apparently, they've left BBC but they're part of the technical team. They came to me, I dealt with them on so many things . . . so I assumed," Kweku Baako explained.
However, the BBC denied his claims in a statement indicating that “Contrary to any reports or rumours you may have heard or seen prior to publication stating ‘Number 12’ was a product of a collaborative work by the BBC and the journalist (Anas Aremeyaw Anas) this was not the case. The BBC documentary, ‘Betraying the Game”, broadcast after “Number 12” was first put into the public domain, was an independent and impartial work and a report about Mr. Anas’ investigation. The BBC played no part whatsoever in his investigation and has never sought to suggest otherwise. Mr Anas is not a BBC journalist, we did not work with him during his investigation or commission him to carry out this investigation.”
According to Kweku Baako, there was a level of arrangement and collaboration between them but he had gone to the extent of saying the BBC were joint owners, because three individuals he assumed were still technical staff of the BBC, had been in constant touch with him (Baako) prior to the premiere.
"So I was wrong . . . and that is why the BBC made Anas to go on air to clear the misconception. This Sulemana stuff is belated because already Anas had cleared the air," he added.
Kweku Baako contributing to a panel discussion on Wednesday's edition of Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo' said; "I accept responsibility for what I put out there and if people got deceived I apologize . . . I said so because I just thought it was the truth I was putting out . . . whatever it is, Kweku Baako takes full responsibility for that misrepresentation or misinformation I put out there, and I sincerely apologize".

this is called damage control apology. Kweku Baako doesn't want to add more to Anas' troubles. the guy is going through a lot now. Kweku wants to take this one for him. Kweku only said what Anas told him but unfortunately he covered it with the word "misrepresentation". I put it to u kweku baako that anas told u it was a collaboration with the BBC. this apology means nothing to him. sefa kayi even gave him the gentleman of the week.
this thing is now getting interesting. Apology #1. More apologies to come, this is just the beginning. just may be Ken is right that you don't know your boy. unfortunately due to his (anas) greediness he will not tell u the truth but yet you are defending him like u will defend urself. u dont trust ple like that. now u have reduced ur self to the level of pratt. soon u will be begging radio and tv stations to invite to come and talk. as for peacefm u are always guaranteed bcos ur own kwame sefa another coffee shop mafia is there. But my question for Mr. Baako is, why then was the BBC angry that the thing was shown to the president and the vice? Or that was another way to express his disappointment at their failed attempt to blackmail Nana Addo? there is something fishy and u need a neutral mind to see what is happening. Guys this is not the time insult anybody. we have to use our brains wisely.
Honestly, I do not know why people are still chastising Kwaku Baako over this BBC issue. Kwaku Baako made a genuine mistake. That’s true. The fact is he has now apologised for it. The most important point is that Anas himself actually cleared the air not long after Kwaku Baako’s initial mistake. The matter, to me was settled long ago. I am struggling to understand why some people have chosen to blow this issue out of proportion. Anas himself said that the BBC did a documentary report of his own documentary. Anas never said it was funded by the BBC nor did he say it was a collaboration. He also never said that the documentary was commissioned by the BBC. It was clear in Anas’ own words. I do not understand why someone should claim this as a victory against Anas. In any case, I cannot understand the purpose of this supposed email exchange with the BBC. Sometimes I can’t help but question the motivation of those fighting Anas. We still haven’t got even one jot of proof from them to suggest that Anas is not genuine.
Yes Guys it on record, BBC has disassociated themselves after the released of WHO WATCHES THE WATCH MAN by Kennedy Agyarpong.
Hhhhheeeeeerrrrrrrr Honorable Akompreko Ohene Tutugyagu Dawurampong Kennedy Agyapong, i salute you My Hero!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! God bless the womb that kept you for 9 months. If she isn't alive i pray God overlook her iniquities and grant her eternity. May you and your Household have the Peace of God that surpasses human understanding till end of time......
You see where your hypocrisy has led you ...Mr factua Kwaku bako Anaa is gradually destroying your credibility now you come to apologise for what the facts you told us without cross checking you follow this boy you go down with him , now we seem to get the picture ken was eying to paint to Ghanaians if the president was not bold enough to let them go ahead to show this like this will sound doom for Ghana he would have been nailed if he has attempted to bribe anas not to go ahead. This the president has shown ones again his incorruptible nature we salute you Mr president you've been vindicated together with hon ken, Anas must be probed to the latter to bring finality to the whole caboodle , cos I smell a rat somewhere those behind the no12 video must bow their heads in shame.
Hon. Ken, Kweku Baako and Anas there is no need for you guys to stretch things again "let bygones be bygones" and lets focus for the good things ahead. .And to the NPP lets allow our game of football to continue because that is all that we HAVE.God BLess Ghana
@Rule of law....You have made a good point because now BBC have recognized that Anas is going down the drain and that will tarnish their image. Presumably they asked Kwaku Baako to manufacture an "Ananse" story to cover up.
I suspect the BBC is disassociating themselves from the documentary after the showing of Who Watches the Watchman and they want Kwaku Baako to help them. This is because Kwaku Baako told us of BBC colabo days before the video was premiered. Why didn't they deny at that time. Secondly Kwaku claims he knew about the project from start till end so how come the so called former BBC staff didn't tell him that they were doing the work in their private capacity even after Kwaku Baako had put out the information. I am believing Ken Agyepong that Kwaku doesn't know Anas too well as he claims otherwise I am suspecting that BBC has approached Kwaku to help them disassociate themselves from this mess because Anas' credibility is questionable after they watched the WW the Watchman. Kwaku should please come again because he is not someone who will put out any information on assumption.
i think nana addo is the luckiest among the people caught in the trap..if he had negoatiated with anas to drop the video they would have sold the negotiation for a higher fee..many in worcester would now understand what Randy Abbey said in the hotel after the black stars game...i think that was the basis of the plot..i can boaldly say the whole deal was designed by Randy Abbey and financed by a turkish businessman based in Ghana. The plot was in two-folds: To get nyantakyi out and connect nana addo into bribery scandalwhich will forced him out of presidency in 2020....those the event at the hotel was partially recorded the pictures and sound are not clear to be published as evidence...RANDY had was very fine with wine so may be he talked lose.some guys in worcester can testify especially those who operate radio stations in worceter
