A former Deputy Minister for Communication in the erstwhile John Mahama administration is asking why the ruling Nana Addo led government used state resources to fund a thanksgiving event held to mark the one year anniversary of the 2016 elections which brought them into power.
According to Felix Ofosu Kwakye, Mustapha Hamid, Minister for Information, in an interview with an undisclosed media house, said the event was sponsored by the presidency.
Speaking during a panel discussion on Radio Gold’s "Alhaji and Alhaji", Felix Ofosu-Kwakye who described the event as "an exercise in self-gratification", said it does not make sense to use state funds to sponsor a political party's programme.
“It is not clear to me what they wanted to celebrate. It was a completely unnecessary event. It was an exercise in self-gratification…What happened at the Accra International Conference Centre was an NPP event so it does not make sense that it was sponsored by the state…” he indicated.
Background
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) today, [Thursday], December 7, 2017, held a thanksgiving service at the Accra International Conference Centre to mark a year after the party won the 2016 general elections.
The event, which was held at the Accra International Conference Center, marks exactly a year since the party wrestled power from the John Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.
President Akufo Addo, his Vice, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and other leading members of the party attended.

Mr. Kwakye, it was organised to thank God because your party people including yourself 'turned God' and said strongly that Nana Addo WILL not become President....And Ebeneezer! this is how far the Lord has brought Nana Addo. You dont have shame.
Ogyimifuo !!!
This little bastard never ceases bringing curses onto himself,I pity him;Only in Ghana this nonentity worthless use.less boy who doesn't even deserves to be Nana's shoe polisher open his ***barred word*** beak to spew ***barred word***.These NDC hogs are hungry, and so full of bitterness, envy and pain. They'll rot in opposition.
Dr. Lamptey of the Valley View Clinic (A bogus mental clinic) at Dzorwulu in Accra is said to be engaged in several nefarious practices. He is said to have aided several rapists by declaring the victims mentally unsound. Aside that he is said to have sabotaged several businesses by asking his nurses to inject the proprietors. In one such case 9 male nurses from his hospital dragged a respected business owner to the ground. The man regained consciousness 3 days later in his clinic. That his how the man's business was destroyed. In another case he is said to have repeated this same act in Sakumono, Achimota and Roman Ridge twice. One of the victims was a respected doctor and business owner who regularly preaches at church himself. Dr. Lamptey who hates Akufo-Addo more than any doctor and claims to know more than enough about Akufo-Addo must be put behind bars and his hospital shut down. A prominent GA who knows him more than any one else has been calling for this for a long time.
You little boy of no life, you continue to be disrespectful to the elderly.
This boy is trying to stay relevant. He shouldn't waste our ears! Let Nana do his job. You had your chance but messed up big time!
Kwakye is unintelligent and an oaf, yet this is the best NDC has. Tweaaaaa
With boys like this one as part of the communication team, NDC will be in opposition for a very loooong time.
