Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia says although they are poised to fulfil all their promises, the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) did not pledge to fulfill them within 100 days in government.
Speaking at a Town Hall on the 100 days of the Akufo-Addo tenure as president, a programme organised by Joy News, the Vice President said the NPP government have been able to record 103 remarkable achievements since taking over from the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.
“Government has upped the country’s foreign reserve from less than $6 billion to $8 billion. This is the achievement and with that you have a lot more confidence in the economy and you see stability return to the currency” he said.
Today marks exactly 100 days since the NPP, led by its leader and 2016 flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, took over the reigns of governance from the National Democratic Congress.
It was a change many had clamored for and eagerly anticipated considering the ‘historic’ margin of victory the NPP got in last year’s polls.
That margin, according to many, was a reflection of the goodwill the Akufo-Addo government was to enjoy in the coming days, but the question on the lips of many remains ‘how long will the anchor hold’ particularly after a series of unexpected events which many believe have overshadowed the positives of the Akufo-Addo administration in the last 100 days.

You said those taxes were killer taxes and must be lifted out quickly. Now tell us if those taxes you claimed were killer taxes have not gone higher than before? will you admit you are a killer? Now you went and quickly reduced air fares. all what your have said we have done it we reduce fuel electricity etc very soon it will work NDC be pay to wait and see transforming Ghana npp communicator we are here to help your comment
Nkomode yes we promise to pay contractors and we have started the process npp communicator we are here to help your comment
Someone tell me a country which has got it's economy turned around in 100 days. If there is this miracle country , someone name it. Even if you plant maize now it takes some months to sow. Ghana will take some time to turn around but changes should been seen gradually. We use election years to consume all the state's money and engage in ***barred word*** wasteful expenditure. Where do we think the money is from?
Oh, Bawumia has soon forgotten. Nana promised to pay all the contractors their arrears within the first hundred days. Has he? You will give way the manner you came
what do we expect a government to achieve in 100 days. get real guys!!
The past government (NDC) was only asking for more time to loot the country and not build it. The likes of Kofi Adams..etc. This government (NPP) has started well and on the right path; not to loot the country but needs 4 years to make the country prosperous not 100 days. What did so called JM and Amissah Arthur/Asiedu Nketia do in 8 years?? Bunch of jokers, governance is serious business! And that's exactly what NPP is offering. Like the NDC said, if you think the kitchen is too hot...look for your passport/visa! There are some Ghanaians who only needed the free SHS policy to come into effect....and they've gotten it and they'll vote for NPP again in 2020. Some members of NDC should be worried about Nsawam (the only reason why I voted the NPP)
It looks as if all those who replied to Ekua are living in Mars. Some claim they should be given time, some talk of trickle down effect, and some talk of free SHS. What did they say when the past government was asking for the same. Ekua, don't worry about these knuckleheads, continue to speak your mind.
Crazy people ruling Ghana, what did you tell Ghanaians when you were campaigning? you told us that Ghana has a lot of money but we are hungry, you promised reducing electricity tariffs and fuel prices within your first one month in office. You said those taxes were killer taxes and must be lifted out quickly. Now tell us if those taxes you claimed were killer taxes have not gone higher than before? will you admit you are a killer? Now you went and quickly reduced air fares and claiming Ghanaians are better of now. If this is not ***barred word*** then what is? You don't need to be rocket scientist to know your Delta forces government is a disaster. Ghanaians already realise the mistake the made by voting you in. We were on the right course under Mahama with massive infrastructure development which would have soon put Ghana in the right track like the Europeans did, but we mistakenly cut Mahama off. You came and lied to Ghanaians and now nobody knows which direction you are dragging Ghana to. No direction, no programs, no vision. We are just in quagmire and a sinking boat. I pity the nation.
@Ekua, The free SHS is coming. There is a time line for everything. Such long-term plans must be thought through and planned well. The current government, though they had the idea could not make concrete plans while in opposition. They now have to look at what is available and allocate funds for everything that people are asking for. If we were patient enough for the past 8 years, then we must be for the next few months. Tolerance and not party affiliation is what is needed here. Some things change right away while others must be progressive. Compare 8 years to 100 days!!
